THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

The biggest threat is home grown terrorists ,how do you stop someone born in that country with no criminal record suddenly deciding to go on a suicide mission ?
==========================

What was inciting hatred with that comment i made this morning Fred ?

Or is it ok in your world to run down and kill 84 adults and children and wound 200 others .
Fred you always come out in some sort of support for these people ,you have done it time and again ,you really are not just ignorant but a vile pig.

MILITARY COUP UNDERWAY IN TURKEY

jimmy b - 15 Jul 2016 21:21 - 72673 of 81564

Just the country we wanted to join the EU !!

Haystack - 15 Jul 2016 21:41 - 72674 of 81564

They were never going to join the EU as they are too unstable and their human rights too bad. It was just another lie from the Leave campaign.

grannyboy - 15 Jul 2016 22:02 - 72675 of 81564

Will you get it into your thick skull haystack, the day after the referendum
the EU reopened talks on fastracking Turkey's accession to the EU.

Obviously this event which is taking place will now put the talks in jeopardy
and the Turks chances of joining.

Haystack - 15 Jul 2016 22:15 - 72676 of 81564

You seem to be politically naive. The EU wants Turkey or more specifically President Erdogan to be helpful over immigrants. There are 3m refugees in Turkey and increasing steadily. If they do not hang on to them we will get them in Europe. The EU has been stringing Erdogan on for some time by pretending he can join the EU. He wants access to cheap money in the EU just as Greece got. Turkey stands absolutely no chance of joining the EU for many years. They are so far away from being suitable as a candidate in almost every area.

It would take them at least 30 years to meet te requirement. They would also have to avoid a veto by all 27 countries. Denmark recently had a referendum that rejected Turkey and at least a half dozen other countries don't want them. They didn't have a proper judiciary as Erdogan appoints the judges. He has been taking powers to himself to make laws by decree. Only the gullible ad Erdogan believed that Turkey would join the EU.

There may have been supposed accelerated entry to the EU, but it is a fantasy. Their economy, human rights, democracy and a host of other things prevent it.

Haystack - 15 Jul 2016 22:17 - 72677 of 81564

Apart from anything, where did you read about Turkey getting accelerated access the day after the referendum. I can't find it. I know it was reported that it would happen the day after in such rags like the Express.

jimmy b - 15 Jul 2016 22:35 - 72678 of 81564

The EU has been stringing Erdogan on for some time by pretending he can join the EU.

================

Well you have gone and told him now Haystack ,when he reads that above iv'e no doubt he will just open the gates to Europe ,all your fault !!

Haystack - 15 Jul 2016 22:40 - 72679 of 81564

I am happy about Leaving, but the campaign was a fraud. It appeared to have a manifesto but without any power to carry out any promises. For instance the promise to spend some of our EU contribution on the NHS. The trouble is that if they won the campaign, they would have no power to do that. They were not a party and were never going to have any power. They made pledges and some foolish people believed them. Their promises do not bind this or any other government. The money will not be spent on the NHS and nor should it be. None of the promises are possible.

Haystack - 15 Jul 2016 22:43 - 72680 of 81564

It is not me telling him. When Cameron said that Turkey could could not join during the referendum campaign, Erdogan got very upset and said he had been betrayed.

Chris Carson - 16 Jul 2016 00:06 - 72681 of 81564

Yes ok Hays, but come on Osbourne the Twat, emergency budget, war. Remember the song "Who's sorry now" ? Thank Christ were out of that shite! Turkey?
