THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

And that is from a runner of Tory Central office who knows everybody and everything.

I am really worried now.

Dumbo, Manuel and Vicky,

I am able to recognise beliefs and bigotry and generally can distinguish them from informed and factual opinion.

Again, I am well use to critical self-analysis and even introspection and modify my opinions and actions in response to critical analysis and discussion.

Perhaps, the latter approach would be useful for yourselves, but I doubt you would give much validity to the opinion of others unless they coincide with your own.

Manuel,

If you read back to before some of my posts before the referendum you will see that I thought “out” vote simply put was a “dumb” vote, especially when one considered the probable difficulties and costs of negotiations and renegotiations of rules, laws, contracts, boundaries, responsibilities etc. made or agreed to, over the last 45years.

From your recent postings, you seem to be catching up and realising the consequences.

(Also, consider the costs of attempting to fortify little england to prevent the unknown numbers of immigrants wishing to enter the country. It is not appealing, but of course, you are welcome to your opinions.

(Hear they are starting to build smuggling tunnels between NI and SI ready for the exit, unless they devolve as a whole.)

Cameron, Hay’s and your messiah, did a wonderful job and foresaw what his political shenanigans would produce.

But why does the public have to pay his bills?

I agree that Win10 is better than 8 or 9, but 7 is still the least troublesome IMO. Best of all is my new MacBook Pro. Expensive but almost instant start up.

Sturgeon: independence may be best for Scotland amid Brexit upheaval

Barriers to protecting Scotland ‘substantial’, first minister says as she argues separation may offer greatest stability

Independence may offer Scotland the greatest stability while the rest of the UK faces upheaval after last month’s vote to leave the EU, Nicola Sturgeon has said.

Scotland’s first minister also told an audience in Edinburgh on Monday that the barriers to protecting the country’s interests while remaining in the UK were “substantial”.

She described the absence of leadership and planning that became evident immediately after the leave vote as “one of the most shameful abdications of responsibility in modern political history”.

Addressing an Institute for Public Policy Research event, Sturgeon said she feared the UK government was pursuing a “hard rather than a soft Brexit” that would result in a future outside the single market with only limited access and a significant restriction on free movement.

Barack Obama’s half-brother said he was so disappointed with the Democratic party that he will vote for Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Malik Obama said he supports Trump because of his frustrations with the Obama administration – from its role in ousting Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi to the administration’s support of same-sex marriage.

“I feel like a Republican now because they don’t stand for same-sex marriage, and that appeals to me,” Obama told the New York Post in a call from the Kenyan village of Kogelo.

Obama plans to return to Maryland in November to cast his vote for Trump, where he is registered to vote and used to work as an accountant in the state, according to other media outlets.

Obama’s disappointments with the Democratic party also include presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while secretary of state. “She should have known better as the custodian of classified information,” said Obama.

72834: Free upgrade to W10 runs out in 4 days

Hence my question, Hays.

Still getting my head around some of the settings and apps within W10 but it does seem to be faster and quite solid.

Having tried out several Cloud backup systems (Amazon Prime, Google, Acronis) I'm currently in the middle of trying out BT Cloud, which latter I think is going to be my choice. It does seem to be extremely easy to use but I am tring to familiarise myself with its fine points.

I do like the fact that with BT Cloud you can synchronise your phone and other hardware with your BT Cloud Account and do 'backup-on- the-go automatically'., although i'm still learning how to set things up. Cloud storage this does seem to be the way forward. Additionally, you can let family members easily share the info' that's in the Cloud too.

In years to come, people everywhere are all going to enjoy one enormously massive Wikipedia type thingy and collective storage of all and any kind of information.

Within a few hours we can already all become quite expert on just about any topic you care to choose - using the power and magic of the Internet.

eg. My wife told me about a lady she was talking to for quitre a while whilst dog walking. She has met her several times before and they have struck up a bit of a friendship. Anyhow, apparently, the other lady has problems 'down there'. My wife tells me, how when she heard this she just had to smile to herself. It turns out that the lady suffers with Endemetriosis and, as such, has painful periods. My wife has a look on Google about this and 'almost instantly' knows more about this lady's period problems than the lady does herself. This other lady is a bit 'old school' and can't easily talk about her problems; neither is she on the internet so she can't easily learn about her problem either.

BUT...one does have to be careful, I think. It is so easy to come over to others as being a 'know-it-all' and thus be labelled 'patronising'.

US ELECTIONS
a truly awful choice between a loudmouthed redneck with nothing to commend him and a considerably less than clean professional politician with many skeletons in the cupboard

I think 'know-it-all' is where it will all end up.

Haze,

Are you confused or jealous?

Another quote for you to ponder, unless the is party dogma prevents you.

-=-==

"Agnosticism is a perfectly respectable and tenable philosophical position; it is not dogmatic and makes no pronouncements about the ultimate truths of the universe. It remains open to evidence and persuasion; lacking faith, it nevertheless does not deride faith.

Atheism, on the other hand, is as unyielding and dogmatic about religious belief as true believers are about heathens. It tries to use reason to demolish a structure that is not built upon reason; because, though rational argument may take us to the edge of belief, we require a "leap of faith" to jump the chasm."
