THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

From one looney to a party of loonies.

Haystack - 20 Aug 2016 22:01 - 73146 of 81564

Sadiq Khan has deserted Corbyn.

The headline in the Observer is

Ditch Corbyn now or lose to Tories, Khan warns Labour

jimmy b - 20 Aug 2016 22:13 - 73147 of 81564

It's too late Labour are dead in the water for many years to come , if May makes a good job of Brexit she will win the 2020 election ,however as i have said if we get stitched up there will be a shock to British politics .

Party of Loonies Fred ? Nigel Farage is a GOD ,the only honest politician of the last 20 years and maybe the man who saved Great Britain ,thank him like you would Churchill.

Fred1new - 20 Aug 2016 23:24 - 73148 of 81564

Dumbo,

Do you go down on your knees when you see an effigy of Farage?

VICTIM - 21 Aug 2016 07:09 - 73149 of 81564

Sad man Freda .

Agreed re: your 73149

I don't like to read about this silliness between Fox, Johnson and Davies. I hope May sorts it out.

cynic - 21 Aug 2016 17:32 - 73151 of 81564

even sadiq khan now reckons JC is a total loser
only fred on this board thinks otherwise

Fred1new - 21 Aug 2016 19:07 - 73152 of 81564

I wonder what Sadiq's opinion is of the waiter.

cynic - 21 Aug 2016 19:20 - 73153 of 81564

he certainly tips the waiter, so clearly considerably higher
i dare say he considers JC on a par with the plongeur

MaxK - 21 Aug 2016 20:32 - 73154 of 81564

Slag off Jeremy all you want. He has a membership tally and following the tories can only dream of:

http://labourlist.org/2016/07/post-referendum-boost-means-labour-now-has-over-half-a-million-members/

Lets not forget who tramps the streets on the knocker when an election looms...

clue: It isn't the grandees of the party!

Small lesson to T.May, who now commands (unelected) a party of perhaps 150k members, if she's lucky.

Fred1new - 21 Aug 2016 21:09 - 73155 of 81564

Have a read of :

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/aug/20/brexit-uk-should-start-divorce-proceedings

Not the most illuminating, but realising some of the problems.

grannyboy - 22 Aug 2016 07:33 - 73156 of 81564

Well its been reported on the news this morning that 640,000 are eligible to
vote, so someones being getting their numbers wrong and who is eligible to vote?

ExecLine - 22 Aug 2016 10:30 - 73157 of 81564

MaxK

I would suppose I'm a Tory and my wife is too but neither of us would waste our money joining the party.

If there's anything worth knowing, Haystack will undoubtedly tell us. ;-)

I would guess too, that lots of the most recent people to join the Labour Party are affluent Tories. They join just to ensure keeping Corbyn in power so that, whilst he is leader, Labour don't stand a 'cat in hell's chance' of ever winning the next General Election. Once again though, I wouldn't spend any of my money doing such as that. However, there are lots who would.

cynic - 22 Aug 2016 11:00 - 73158 of 81564

confess i also see no purpose in paying party subs

iturama - 22 Aug 2016 11:20 - 73159 of 81564

It makes some people feel important. They get chosen to deliver leaflets... like Hays. Resembles the Masons without the weirder antics.
Changing tack, Theresa May has so far shown good political sense. She seems to understand the mood of the people better than our Dave.

Haystack - 22 Aug 2016 11:36 - 73160 of 81564

The purpose of subs us to lay for local campaigning. It is part of the general fund raising. Party members do not generally deliver leaflets. In elections the government pays for delivery. The rest of the time delivery is usually paid for.

cynic - 22 Aug 2016 11:48 - 73161 of 81564

i shall always vote as will my wife, but we shall remain passive party members

aldwickk - 22 Aug 2016 15:53 - 73162 of 81564

What was you saying about Windows 10

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-37154516

iturama - 22 Aug 2016 18:11 - 73163 of 81564

I was being facetious Hays. I know party members can't be trusted to deliver leaflets. They would bin them at the first opportunity. :) Too much like hard work.
C- what is a passive party member? My simple mind tells me that one is a member or not and that means paying your dues. Is that you being cute with words by chance?

Haystack - 22 Aug 2016 18:26 - 73164 of 81564

Party activists do hand deliver leaflets occasionally.
