I would guess too, that lots of the most recent people to join the Labour Party are affluent Tories. They join just to ensure keeping Corbyn in power so that, whilst he is leader, Labour don't stand a 'cat in hell's chance' of ever winning the next General Election. Once again though, I wouldn't spend any of my money doing such as that. However, there are lots who would.

It makes some people feel important. They get chosen to deliver leaflets... like Hays. Resembles the Masons without the weirder antics.
Changing tack, Theresa May has so far shown good political sense. She seems to understand the mood of the people better than our Dave.

The purpose of subs us to lay for local campaigning. It is part of the general fund raising. Party members do not generally deliver leaflets. In elections the government pays for delivery. The rest of the time delivery is usually paid for.

I was being facetious Hays. I know party members can't be trusted to deliver leaflets. They would bin them at the first opportunity. :) Too much like hard work.
C- what is a passive party member? My simple mind tells me that one is a member or not and that means paying your dues. Is that you being cute with words by chance?

Party activists do hand deliver leaflets occasionally.

Ireland’s Biggest Bank Charging Depositors – Negative Interest Rate Madness

Deposits at Bank of Ireland are soon to face charges in the form of negative interest rates after it emerged on Friday that the bank is set to become the first Irish bank to charge customers for placing their cash on deposit with the bank.




This radical move was expected as the European Central Bank began charging large corporates and financial institutions 0.4% in March for depositing cash with them overnight.

“As they mature, and as the bank bail-in rules come into play, it’s no longer the case that for corporate investors depositing at a bank is risk free,” she added.
“To be honest, the return is abysmal now. We’ve gone back to a more typical investment portfolio for an insurance company.”

“You have to be paid for the risk you take,” she added. “You might entertain the bail-in risk if you were being properly paid. But if you’ve a bank trying to charge you for leaving your money with them, you’re not inclined to take any risk at all.”

Purely guessing here but will this sort of push people into the stockmarket , is there a boom coming .

And a lot of it is down to banks not having to rely on savers deposits due
to the QE and the money printing that's now widespread.
