Thanks Opti. The biggest problem is that there aren't any PC's near a TV at the moment. I was attracted to the wireless aspect of Richgit's gizmo.

Ty it then it may handle streaming from the net but even if it doesn't you can still use it for music, video and pictures (I still preffer ethernet conections to wireless though).

I am so chuffed with my Develo stuff, which allows me to use my 240v mains as a broadband network. Anywhere in the house, where there is a socket, then I shove in a Develo Homeplug and then that's where I've got 'speed of light' secure hard-wired ethernet broadband.

I was going to suggest Devolo for that tele thingie.

But beware those of you living in old houses with more than one ring mains. You can waste a lot of trial and error diagnostics if you don't understand the principles.

Being on a different ring main shouldn't stop those devices from working, but if you had two circuits on different phases then the network would not work between them.

Also, your neighbours on the same electrical phase (normally every third house in a street) may be able to get onto yor network.

The EVA8000 would connect to your PC using either/or WiFi / Ethernet. It will need to be positioned close to your TV and conected to the TV via an HDMI or other AV cable.

My comments regarding WiFi v Ethernet were to point out that although I'm sure the unit will work with WiFi, it will be better if you use an Ethernet cable

Just reiterating my previous question. Selftrade have made a minor adjustment to their website over the weekend and I now can't access the site let alone my account. According to them, I am the only person with this problem. I've tried geting rid of temp. files, history, cookies to no avail. I got rid of my firewall and managed to get half the site! I'm with Virginmedia. If anybody can give me reasons for this (I've never experienecd it before with any site) I'd really appreciate their help. Perhaps it is a ISP issue? I'm not around till later but will act on any advice I receive tonight.

Click on Tools, Internet Options, Programs, Manage add-ons

Scroll down the list and look for

Java Plug-in 1.6.0_10

Anything less than '10' means you aren't using the most recent issue and your Java program is not really up to date. The easy way to do a Java update is via MoneyAm's link. Say on the Stockwatch page.

And then there is the 'Pop up blocker' side of things to think about. This might be another possibility. There are quite a few that might be 'on' and causing interference. eg, IE, Google, Stumble, etc, etc. - but I doubt this is it.

Can you get in to DOS by pressing F8 & selecting safe mode with command prompt?
If so then you can run check disk as a DOS command.

I does not sound good. You could try removing the battery for a few minutes and then try again, also disconnect any external leads that you have plugged in and take out the DVD drive. After that, you should check the warrenty.

It could be a motherboard fault but it could also be memory or a poor conection somewhere. Another thing that you could try is removing the hard disk and see what happens. Obviously it will not boot if you do that but if it got past the initial boot it would sugest a disk problem.

The other thing to check is is the fan running.

As a last resort, you could try leaving it in the fridge overnight.
