How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

I'm on a few matches, just been busy on them to comment.

Scousers 1 up :-)

Scripophilist - 28 Dec 2005 20:18 - 7339 of 10502

Only one Peter Crouch!

Liverpool are playing very well, if they win their two games in hand they will be 2nd. It's feeling like the 1970's all over again!

Tottenham losing to West Brom lol

Utd price looking attractive - any thoughts?

most of the main bookies priced Liverpool up at evens on the coupon and have been limiting to 200 per bet but have taken plenty. A ridiculous price for a side who have won 8 on the bounce against a side who are really struggling (lost 4-0 to Villa) - admittedly away from home in a derby but a standout price

2-0 scousers :-))

bakko - 28 Dec 2005 20:21 - 7343 of 10502

Agree on Man U price and will go in if still 1-1 at half time.

Liv now 2-0

Fundamentalist - 28 Dec 2005 20:25 - 7344 of 10502

Arsenal now 3-0 - Redknapp starting to realise how much work he's got to do?

Scripophilist - 28 Dec 2005 20:29 - 7345 of 10502

I thought Arsenal would win for sure but 3-0 before 1/2 time? I think Pompey are up against it more than he hoped.

As for Liverpool at evens, that's a crazy price as they are on fire. Everton are not exactly firing on all cylinders are they?

Not sure about Man U, brum are rubbish at the moment, so not a terrible decision. The problem you will face in the second half is that the decay in price will accelerate rapidally.

Fundamentalist - 28 Dec 2005 20:31 - 7346 of 10502

4-0 Arsenal now scrip

i tend to view backing at half time or later as having no get out clause - ie the price decay means it is more of a bet than a trade

Fundamentalist - 28 Dec 2005 20:36 - 7348 of 10502

rumours circling that there have been ireegular betting patterns on Arsenal 5-0, 6-0, 7-0 lol

Fundamentalist - 28 Dec 2005 21:00 - 7349 of 10502

United 2-1 up - hope you got on Bak (i didnt)

Tottenham 2-0 down to the baggies hehe

bakko - 28 Dec 2005 21:00 - 7350 of 10502

ManU 2-1 :-)

bakko - 28 Dec 2005 21:10 - 7351 of 10502

Liv 3-1 up

Took a bite at half time :-)

EVOLUTION - 28 Dec 2005 21:18 - 7353 of 10502

hi guys, i need some some advice on trading software.next year i will be trading virtually full time on the racing, and was wandering what the best software is.is it betangel or bettrader pro? or is there any other out there. also any pearls of wisdom you can offer? cheers guys

Fundamentalist - 28 Dec 2005 21:23 - 7354 of 10502

evolution

you will get a very biased answer here - scrip who started the thread is behind Betangel hence the majority if not all on here use betangel.

personally use betangel (have used others in the past) and find it superior, especially with the regular updates and continuing development.

i like scrip and a few others on here trade the horses most days using betangelpro and find it does all i need (and many i dont lol)

Fundamentalist - 28 Dec 2005 21:25 - 7355 of 10502

Brum equalised 2-2 now

Fundamentalist - 28 Dec 2005 21:28 - 7356 of 10502
