hi guys, i need some some advice on trading software.next year i will be trading virtually full time on the racing, and was wandering what the best software is.is it betangel or bettrader pro? or is there any other out there. also any pearls of wisdom you can offer? cheers guys

you will get a very biased answer here - scrip who started the thread is behind Betangel hence the majority if not all on here use betangel.

personally use betangel (have used others in the past) and find it superior, especially with the regular updates and continuing development.

i like scrip and a few others on here trade the horses most days using betangelpro and find it does all i need (and many i dont lol)

I second what Fundy has already said as I'm also a Betangel user although not a regular on the horses.

I'm more than happy with the software and feel very comfortable in that it's well supported and there are more enhancements in the pipeline.

Just as well I greened up on ManU!

Leaving well alone as the book is looking good here too!

thanks fundamentalist,bakko ive been on the website, and it seems a bit daunting, does it take long to get the hang of it? i traded alot in the summer, but wasnt making enough profit to justify not working, but that was not using any software. hopefuly ill have a nice bank to work with, but i need good software thats easy to use. hopefully betangel is the answer. finally is there good support if anything does go wrong

Just been following Utd brum game, if you had backed brum just before they equallised would you close immediately on first price after the suspension or would you normally get a better price if you hang on a few min.?

personally, unless the price looked wrong i would wait for it to settle down, though that late on i would have been happy to get my profit out (even if it cost me a few ticks)

also, in the situation where utd were 2-1 up, you would have been better laying united or backing the draw than backing brum (unless the miracle happened and you held you nerve when they equalised and held on till brum went in front)

the basics of the software are quite straightforward and the operability is very straightforward. That said, the software has a lot of additional features which take a little while to understand (and are best tried out with very small stakes until you are happy with their workings)

The price tends to be a little unstable after any goal as traders/punters reposition themselves but will fall back in line within 30secs or so.

Fundy......So in a situation like that you are better laying the strong team or backing the draw rather than backing the weak team in hope? Is it a better risk/reward

IMO most software whether it's Betangel or others will seem a little daunting at first.

It didn't take me too long to find my way around Betangel but obviously used small stakes at the beginning. However, there are lots of features on it that I rarely use as I tend to stick to the features that I am more familiar with. As long as I make a decent profit I'm more than happy.

Apologies to all if my answers and posts are a bit delayed as I'm only on 56k dial up tonight. I thought it might have affected the Betangel performance but seemed to be working OK

Hopefully, I'll get my broadband connection up within the next week.

At least the profits tonight have more than paid for the call charges!

This thread is very civilised as ultimately its based on an investment BB not the forum playground. Personally, I like someone to have a contrarian view to mine as long as they can explain why, it may often open up an avenue i havent thought of/looked at. The biggest prob on here is more often than not we agree with each other too much!!!

sorry for the delay, yes the risk reward is far better on laying the strong side imo. firstly you only need one goal not two for the bet to go significantly in your favour and secondly you actually benefit from the goal being scored later (better lay off price) whereas if you back the outsider if they score say 2 mins from time, their price will prob not fall below your original back price

Fundy.......thanks and i guess you would also have a more liquid book with the stong team to get you filled. On the Utd game before the off there was when i looked 1.08m matched but only 22k was for brum, so that alone should have been my clue

indeed, the liquidity on the line is often critical to the trade. obviously the higher levels of liquidity will be on the shorter prices hence it is usually better value laying there rather than backing the high odds

see the Aussie price is already down to 1.5 - would like to see it pushed down towards 1.4 asap please :-)
