Chinese stocks taking one hell of a battering.

Just sold all of my remaining free carry holding in SOLA. Don't want to get caught in a bear market; there are plenty of stable investments out there (GF, I am sure I will be looking into some of your recommendations in the near future).

You can`t keep a good value share down, which we have in abundance in SOLA.

i think the wise would either have already taken at least some profit and would be resisting the tempation to buy more, at least until next week when the dust just may have settled

despite what some may thinkl, i post this 3 day chart purely because of the way sp has (re)acted during that time ...... plunge followed by slight recovery and/or apparent stability followed by further grimness.

while sp will not fall indefinitely, if this 50 dma provides no support, then next level is fairly minor at around 480 ...... below that, and one could (not will) see freefall to 400

Surely that would be relevant if only SOLA was falling? The whole market has taken a big hit, so on your logic every chart would be in a downturn and heading for it's own 50 dma.
Of course the final outcome may be as you predict, in which case I will eat humble pie.

Evil Knieval thinks SOLA will go down to 170p...dream on, Evil...be realistic.

Harry ..... i have re-read all my recent posts and note that i merely made observations about support levels ....... My advice re SOLA, especially s it is a Chinese-based stock is to remain very wary and cautious ...... while there has been a very minor recovery this morning, it would be rash to take this to imply that the massive fallout was a 2-day wonder ..... there could easily be more selling to come across the board

I thought I'd recover my fairly handy profits from SOLA and perhaps find a safer haven for them until China sorts itself out. Just thought I'd be better safe than sorry.

Having said that, one of my other Chinese stocks, GNG, is romping away - has doubled in a couple of weeks and up 15% or so today :o)

have just updated the bigger chart (post 635) which indicates that next support below 50 dma and 500 mark is about 467.

31p down on the day. I as getting concerned I might have done the wrong thing in selling when I saw this morning's bounce, but not any more . . . .

Made a nice 130% profit for my Dad as well :o)

though apparently i was a total ass to sell, or so i have been told ...... said "friend" seems to have gone very quiet on that score, though i sincerely hope he (and others) have not been too badly scorched

Wish I could short and make some dosh on the way down too. However, have just released myself from the clutches of my employer and from 31 March will be able to trade whatever I please :o)

imo, it would be quite a brave move to short individual stocks as they have a nasty habiyt of doing the wrong thing, perhaps even more than indices ...... i am still sobbing about having taken my profit in SCHE (what a drip!)
