ASOS have dropped quite significantly in the past week for no particular reason and I view this as the perfect opportunity to invest as I can see them bouncing right back up to the 5.50p mark in the next 2-3 weeks. STRONG BUY!!

Did mean to tell you, late the other night managed to log on to asos.com ...don't know how ,but looked at footware before going to bed. I'm sure I didn't dream it....but can't log back on again. Oh God...it's my age isn't it!!

Sandra: I am sure all of us want you to buy lots of items from ASOS. So if you complete your MoneyAm profile I will be able to communicate with you outside this BB, as I am sure readers will not be interested in the details of sorting out this little problem! John

Sandra and John
I perceive a little liaison developing. Now, Sandra, we want to see you at your best in ASOS clothes but we do want a bit of loyalty to the group, unless the favoured one is me, of course.
ASC price holding back nicely, John, so hopefully it is Blue Index tomorrow, a CFD and the holding built up nicely.
ASOS Challenge hotting up, as I'll report tomorrow. Seems more and more likely, as Sandra will confirm, that a positive RNS is imminent on PET. The dark horse is YOO. They are currently suspended whilst they try to swallow a monstrous gaming operation. I have argued on that bb that they could emerge at a significantly higher price. If they don't, there could be a short term buying opportunity. Not sure my old ticker can handle all this! I am just glad that there are false dawns elsewhere!

More ticker pressure! Just done the cfd on ASC with blue index. Not sure whether they know how to handle we Investors Room professionals. Told him I wasn't having anything of these wretched stop losses (poor chap on PET saw his shares being sold before his eyes!). Charged top of spread at 80p though market price was 79.5p. But had sold on Tuesday at 81.25p so selling commission and 0.5% on buy is covered. Seems painless so far and have replaced the ASC sold to buy PET and pay for Xmas hols, making profit in process. Can't be bad!

Well done...a big step forward for real profits...I/we hope! Seriously, you should find Blue Index looking after you well. Talking of Stop Losses I had a
real ticker pressure yesterday when a favourite share of mine just kept going down, and then for no reason after two days its back up. Just goes to show how useful it is to go with the 2 day rule and with small shares ... end of week rule.
At this rate we will have to draw up a set of Trading Rules which we use!
Lets hope you will be able to splash out on extra special gifts this Yuletide, based on your diligence and risk taking!!

Hi John
Pleasant thoughts! Could have closed the CFD book with 0.02p profit per share in a couple of hours! Did you do the PET CFD: now that would be a risk but just think of the upside. With confidence growing, will probably to another CFD on ASC next week to build up ahead of the interims. Meanwhile, waiting with bated breath for YOO to come back from suspension with major uplift and PET take of to stratosphere; then bloody AZM keeps rising. But you've been doing pretty well yourself judging by your PET post! Just got planning permission for a replacement of the garage block, complete with apartment - the vision could even become reality!

Eric:
I thought long and hard about taking out a CFD on PET, but have not yet done so. The question is I think how much risk you are prepared to take on...how do you assess the chances of PET getting any contract in Iraq? I ask this question because of the leverage a CFD offers...if you go LONG and the SP goes UP, that's nice, on the other hand if it goes DOWN (gloom and doom)...as I wrote in a previous response to Sandra, it's almost a binary bet, any good news means the SP will shoot UP, and equally the converse is true. Whereas with ASOS it is has a tangible product that is selling like hot cakes...by the way I note Shares magazine this week mentioned ASOS as a company that has positioned it's products so well on pp19 - but not included in the Company Index (I thought they had Computers to check these things but what do I know)..and that is where I have the CFD running! Like you I am mulling a further investment next week depending on market sentiment.
As to your Garage conversion...surely you are not losing the Car Parking space in Rye, that must be worth a few bob alone!! Still you could turn the Apartment into a Dealing Room given all the money you will soon be making! Clearly a good investment.
I am not sure that YOO has the momentum YET, not in AZM.

hey guys this thread was created for asc share participents so why not keep it to that way, there seems to be far more information on other shares of which this thread wasn't intended, if all the other threads went down this path then there isn't any reason for bb threads by specific company names, to exist, yeah??

Welcome, cashcaptain, but why not say something about ASC? The posts on this bb usually say something about ASC and other shares of mutual interest as well, notable those included in the ASOS Challenge Portfolio. But you say nothing about anything!
Off to Beaconsfield to see an old friend, including entertainment to a potentially super Chinese, and then a lecture in Oxford tomorrow (won't say what about!). Will do the ASOS Challenge Portfolio tomorrow evening. Its like evolution - stable prices, then a period of random changes, then ... breakthrough to a new species; not just one stock, either!

Going back a few days,
There is a good spyware programme for free in the computeractive magazines workshops, its swedish named "Lavasofts Adware 6".
Open up with web address "www.computeractive.co.uk/download/1136025. When page opens, click on download here, when dialog box appears, click on save and select desktop in the menu. File is 1.5mb in size and takes about 4 min to download. The programme can be updated also. I use it weekly, clearing out rubbish. SD

ASOS CHALLENGE PORTFOLIO
The bad news is a drop in the value of the portfolio so that it is pretty well on a level with the small cap. index, all the shares dropping except PET and CYH.

The good news is that there are prospects for some quite dramatic developments before the end of the month:
1. After drifting earlier in the week, PET was up over 20% yesterday. The indications are that they have indeed won one, or even two, contracts in Iraq. An announcement is promised by the Iraqi Oil Ministry before the end of November. Yesterday's surge of buying suggests that the announcement could be imminent.
2. YOO shares have been temporarily suspended by the company because the terms of 2 potential acquisitions have become known "to more than a limited number of people". "The Acquisitions would, if completed, be classified as a reverse takeover under the AIM rules and therefore (YOO) has requested that trading ...be suspended temproarily.." Refrence is made to appropriate financing. The companies acquired would add 50M+ revenue to YOO and could have quite a dramatic influence on the share price.
3. ASC, which retains a comfortable lead in the portfolio, itself has the interims scheduled for 29th November. We know already that the 5-month figures are up 85% and first indications of Xmas trading should be known. It is rumoured that at least two of our number have taken out CFDs to increase the ASC gearing in their portfolios!
An interesting post on the CFP bb draws attention to the lack of interest of the institutional sector in small caps coming up to the end of the year where no news is occurring, or even if there is good news. This suggests a further fallow period for several shares, in particular:
MPH. Excellent results this week and yet no response in the price. CYH. Good contract with Sainsbury announced but relatively minor effect on the price.
CFP. Unaffected by advice of 800K business in pipeline.
CCN. Effect of news of film programme soon forgotten.
SEO. Market sentiment adversely affected by litigation, ignoring progress of unaffected product line.
BNH should be an exception as it comes up to interims on 30th November. It has demonstrated it can respond quite dramatically to small volumes.
SEY has completed its funding so should be free to move away from the funding price of 17p. PCI temporarily quiet as rivals come out with positive drilling results.
With the first three shares, patience should be rewarded, perhaps dramatically, in the next couple of weeks (perhaps BNH also). It may be that the other shares will trade more or less sideways until the New Year. Any contrary opinions?
Happy trading and lol!

ASOS plc
('ASOS' or 'the Company)
Holding in Company
ASOS was advised on 15 November 2004 that Man Financial Limited was interested
in a total of 2,135,000 ordinary shares of the Company as at 11 November 2004,
representing 3.03 per cent. of the issued ordinary share capital of the Company.

I think it is Man Financial who go up on that particular news rather than ASOS. When I speak to a finance company, I check their credentials by asking them what they know about ASOS! There are unlikely to be any surprises in the actual trading results as we already know that they are 85% up in revenue terms after 5 months. What will be important is the level of bullishness in statements about Xmas trading. Giving the gloom pervading the High Street, I suspect that their report will blow a few minds into new attitudes about the internet asa trading vehicle! The surpise - I sold some today! The relief! - to buy ASOS cfd's on Thursday (perhaps plus a few Alizyme)!

Man have not necessarily taken a position themselves. This could be the number of shares that they are holding for their clients, which is probably more likely imo.
