How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

My bodyclock hasn't adjusted to the small hours yet so may only be be able to do a few hours but if I can jump on a decent trade and it gets interesting then the excitement will probably keep me going!

Fundamentalist - 29 Dec 2005 00:34 - 7381 of 10502

theres not much excitement about it today till the last session i dont think

bakko - 29 Dec 2005 00:37 - 7382 of 10502

Got a small amount in at 1.6 on the Aussies a few overs.

Could well turn out to be a slowish session with Aus trying to build a decent lead without losing more wickets.

Fundamentalist - 29 Dec 2005 00:42 - 7383 of 10502

sold session runs at 78 for a bit of interest

bakko - 29 Dec 2005 00:47 - 7384 of 10502

Fundamentalist - 29 Dec 2005 00:48 - 7385 of 10502

Thanks

Fundamentalist - 29 Dec 2005 00:53 - 7387 of 10502

sold some more at 83

Fundamentalist - 29 Dec 2005 00:59 - 7388 of 10502

nice injury delay - should knock an over off before lunch :-)

bakko - 29 Dec 2005 01:01 - 7389 of 10502

I'm going to have to look into opening up a sports SB account myself.

Ouch...The blow on the ankle looks painful plus the break in play must have benefitted you too. Well done.

Fundamentalist - 29 Dec 2005 01:06 - 7390 of 10502

Hurt him but worth about 100 to me lol

with sessions like this, the prices arent going to move much, the spreads are the best way to keep an interest

spread now 72-75 - hope the aussies dont have a change of intent prior to lunch

Fundamentalist - 29 Dec 2005 01:07 - 7391 of 10502

like that :-(

Fundamentalist - 29 Dec 2005 01:08 - 7392 of 10502

Boje you tosser lol

all my profit gone in one over :-(

bakko - 29 Dec 2005 01:11 - 7393 of 10502

Sorry Steve. I'm sure you'll gain it back in other ways soon.

Fundamentalist - 29 Dec 2005 01:12 - 7394 of 10502

Bak

not a prob, i have a nice green book, the spread bet is just to keep me interested. Closed at the end of Boje over as Aussies look like theyre finally looking to get after the bowling a bit

bakko - 29 Dec 2005 01:19 - 7395 of 10502

Only sitting on a small profit at the moment. That's if the aussies don't lose any wickets before lunch.

I'll close out my position at lunch as I always find that odds drift out during the breaks.

bakko - 29 Dec 2005 02:19 - 7396 of 10502

Nice 6 by Symonds!

Fundamentalist - 29 Dec 2005 02:25 - 7397 of 10502

Bak

just as he hit that i posted on the bf forum "will he bat in one day mode or test match rabbit in the headlights style" - question answered in 2 balls lol.

Aussies positive intent looks like declaration should be 10 overs after tea, leaving 20ish overs tonight - draw price may start to drift a little from here

bakko - 29 Dec 2005 02:34 - 7398 of 10502

Took advantage of the very slight drift in odds during lunch and picked up a couple of biggish scalps on top as well so in a good position on Aus

Fundamentalist - 29 Dec 2005 02:37 - 7399 of 10502

Wish id taken a position on the spread - they were quoting 102/107 said i thought it was too low but would look to buy later in the session, spread quote now 137/142
