THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

ie: Canada walks out of trade talks with EU..

That tells you we shouldn't be in a organisation that cannot fulfill any meaningful
agreements, that can be held up by just one part of a small country.

We have to go through this rigmarole , but it will be worth it just to get shot of
a entity that's not fit for purpose, and filled with arrogant little shits..

from the snippet i posted it was not at all clear who had scuppered the boat
do you have better detail?

It was one of the federal provinces of Belgium. A Walloon district. It stopped Belgium from ratifying the treaty due to their federal constitution. They seem pretty immovable at the moment. They have a list of dislikes about the treaty.

cynic - 21 Oct 2016 20:20 - 74216 of 81564

good grief!

iturama - 21 Oct 2016 20:22 - 74217 of 81564

Belgium has no less than 4 Parliaments that can veto such a trade deal. There again we have our devolved parliaments demanding a say also, although no veto.. There are also objections in the Irish Parliament, as well as Germany. Romania is also complaining that Canada insists, with the US, on entry visas for Romanians etc
The EU is a four-headed, 28 tentacle octopus with innumerous appendages to the tentacles. Little wonder nothing gets done. Farage saw through it close hand. Negotiation is impossible with that lot and hardly surprising. However, it makes May's task that much clearer and simpler.

cynic - 21 Oct 2016 20:24 - 74218 of 81564

i'm rather afraid it does .... that really is a totally preposterous state of affairs

That's a good article by the 'American Thinker', and obviously mirrors
the same ideology that exist in the UK, and emanates ultimately from
the EU.

"and they all lived happily enough with their muslim brothers?"

And he should google asia bibi if he believes in that statement.

www.gatestoneinstitute.org/9138/uk-pakistan-asia-bibi

This is a quote from those in Pakistan who want(demand) to uphold
the islamist ideology.

Ghulam Mustafa Chaudhry, the lead lawyer who heads a group called the
Movement for the Finality of the Prophethood, said Bibi had already been
found guilty on two counts.

"When they execute her it will stop other people from committing blasphemy"
he said.

Yes we can live 'happily' with our muslim brothers, so long as we cower to
their beliefs.

NO IF'S..NO BUTS!!!

Hi,
Am not too hot on stock market e-magazines-any hard copy recommendations?

I really like 'Money Week'. It is delivered to my door once a week by the postman.

You also get a free daily Money Morning email.

"How to make it. How to keep it. How to spend it."

Check out http://www.Moneyweek.com for an online read and the subscription details.

There is some pretty good stuff written by these guys. As an example, here's what they have to say about investing in Gold (bullion and bars). It's very thorough. (Although I would prefer to use equities to do it myself):

I second that EL. David Stevenson has come up with some cracking Investment Trusts this year, such as UEM (161p now 208p).

The pound has recently been sliding to new lows...

But this is nothing say some experts. The real fall is yet to come.

One expert (I'm don't know who) is predicting a potential 30% drop from around here at least, say some commentators. It could be more.

The truth is, we just don’t know how far the pound could fall when Article 50 is invoked and trigger-happy traders and bitter EU bureaucrats ‘attack’ the pound.

Stock up with
a. plenty of toilet paper and
b. a piece of leather to bite hard on whilst you are gritting your teeth waiting for all those shorts to close after this event has happened.

'Good luck' to those traders who feel good enough and well organised enough to catch this stuff when it happens. Sorry, but I'm not one of them - but I might try and catch events at or near the bottom a couple of times.

And I suppose, just the opposite to Gordon Brown selling gold, Theresa won't be broadcasting the date and time of the doing of it in advance of it happening.

Fred1new - 22 Oct 2016 18:08 - 74228 of 81564

Friends in the city advised GB????

ExecLine - 22 Oct 2016 18:11 - 74229 of 81564

Fred1new - 22 Oct 2016 18:32 - 74230 of 81564

Dil - 22 Oct 2016 21:25 - 74231 of 81564

Fred1new - 22 Oct 2016 21:51 - 74232 of 81564
