THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

A good example of the 'work ethic' on show from 'immigrants' is to visit one of the many car washes staffed by them, sit in your car, observe: i) what a fantastically good job they do cleaning your car and ii) how hard they work in so doing that task.

Then ask yourself, "How would today's 'British' youth compare in the doing of it?"

These immigrants are to be admired, IMHO. They haven't come over here to skive and lark about and get free benefits. They have come over here to work hard and earn some money to be able to help their loved ones.

"One-up from working on a car wash" say, is to get a job in an industrial unit working for a courier/logistics firm. Then, now being in full-time employment, they can send for their wife/girlfriend and kids and rent a property.

A rare example of where automation has been overtaken by (cheap) manual labour. The automatic car washers at petrol stations are being closed once they break down because they can't compete anymore. I must admit the hand wash is superior and I can't knock the work ethic and courtesy.

Of course they do a good job and work hard, many of these car wash immigrants are slaves, they would suffer even more at the hands of their 'masters'. The lucky ones are being rescued by the police.

Its a fact that since 2004 when the EU expanded, employment agencies
started advertising the majority of vacancies in countries around the EU,
particularly Poland, to the detriment of the indigenous workers, who were
left the crumbs, ie: zero hour contracts, temporary work or part time, etc.

The high court ruling is a disgraceful decision...Before the referendum the
H.O.P had a vote on having a referendum, they voted in favour by 6-1

They knew or should have known, (in law ignorance is not a defence), and that
saying is very apt in this situation, because in the EU treaties it states as clear
as day that 'For a country to LEAVE the EU they HAVE to invoke article50', when
these MP'S had the vote on whether to have a referendum, THAT'S WHAT THE
OUTCOME WOULD BE, if the vote was to LEAVE..Now for this to be ignored
and overturned is OUTRAGEOUS..

iturama - 74406 - if you had listened to the radio programme that i did about the control of american media and similar, you would probably not have made your statement

comey is or was a longstanding member of the republican party ..... i haven't checked it out further, but i think i read that he was very active on the right wing of same

iturama - 03 Nov 2016 16:30 - 74409 of 81564

C, I know Comey is a republican. I am a longstanding catholic. So what? Even Obama had the grace to say that he did not believe there were any political motives behind the decision. Comey closed the case prematurely. I doubt it will stop Crooked Hillary winning but the truth will hopefully come out despite her best efforts and with luck the republicans will hold the Senate.

cynic - 03 Nov 2016 16:48 - 74410 of 81564

as i wrote earlier, apart from diehard "unmovables", americans must truly despair of the calibre of the contenders ..... they are both too awful to contemplate

grannyboy - 03 Nov 2016 17:03 - 74411 of 81564

Its not surprising the judgement went against BREXIT...

The three corrupt judges are part of the EU set up...

Fred1new - 03 Nov 2016 17:11 - 74412 of 81564

Granny,

Why don't you give up?

The vote of the judges went against you.

Get back in your kennel.

Stand by for a good QT tonight and have a guess what the biggest question will be about.

:-)

Chris Carson - 03 Nov 2016 17:27 - 74414 of 81564

Pity you can't heed your own advice Freda. How many years is it now since we were blessed by a Labour Government?

Dil - 03 Nov 2016 18:22 - 74416 of 81564

Cynic stop being so fecking awkward.

We voted to leave the EU which is the same as out.

Parliament voted for the referendum and everyone was told the consequences of voting out and the first step in the process is invoking article 50.

This is what was voted for and what the government was expected to deliver and now it is in the hands of 600 MP's the overwhelming majority of who don't represent the will of the people.

required field - 03 Nov 2016 19:18 - 74417 of 81564

I've been wondering : when will an organisation, tv channel or radio station come along and declare : "we are not switching to british winter time and all our programs will remain at the same hour as it is/was"......would rock the boat that wouldn't it ?...one of the advantages ...(if there are any) of the Scots becoming independent would be that jolly old England could remain on british summertime forever !......

Fred1new - 03 Nov 2016 19:31 - 74418 of 81564

Dil.

We know what you voted to leave and against staying in the EU, but don't know what you voted for or where you want to go.

I suggest another 300 or so more defined referendums to say what the 17M voters wanted.

And then a few more asking what the previous remainders want.

Forgot, the remainders have forfeited their rights.

cynic - 03 Nov 2016 19:58 - 74419 of 81564

what is it with you guys - Dil in this instance - that you are unable to read or listen to the news to grasp the facts?

to digress just a tad ..... it is almost inconceivable that parliament will vote against the signing of article 50, and nor will the lords

however, it is how much parliament can or will or should interfere in the real negotiations thereafter that is a concern
as TM says, who on earth openly divulges their plans and tactics etc before going into negotiations?

Fred1new - 03 Nov 2016 20:41 - 74420 of 81564

Why not?

cynic - 03 Nov 2016 21:00 - 74421 of 81564

if you play cards of any sort, do you show your opponent what you're holding?

Dil - 03 Nov 2016 21:13 - 74422 of 81564

Fred , we voted out and knew that the government of the day would negotiate whatever deal they saw fit.

What's difficult about that to understand ?

Fred1new - 03 Nov 2016 22:14 - 74423 of 81564

It is not a game!

Although many seem to think it is.

-=-=-=

I didn't see the words "acceptable" and "beneficial" to the majority of the UK.

You seem to assume that the agreement may be OK for some, if it is "acceptable" to those who voted to leave ie. about 40% of the possible voters.

I think all of the UK has the right to know what is being negotiate in their name and not expected to accept a deal they a may know little of.

-=-=-=-=

I would like to know what leaving the EU will actually mean and the "probable" costs.

If I was subjecting myself to an operation which might have effects on the quality of my life or living standards I would want a detailed informed investigated opinion.

The same applies to evaluating possible consequences of leaving the EU.

-=-==-=

The world markets seemed to consider that the court decision improved the the possibilities for the UK economy.
