Its got support at 480p if it goes through that we are looking at 4 quid.

cynic - 02 Mar 2007 07:45 - 752 of 3050

GF .... actually about 468/470 ...... see my posts 747 and 735

soul traders - 02 Mar 2007 13:40 - 753 of 3050

Wish I could short and make some dosh on the way down too. However, have just released myself from the clutches of my employer and from 31 March will be able to trade whatever I please :o)

cynic - 02 Mar 2007 13:44 - 754 of 3050

imo, it would be quite a brave move to short individual stocks as they have a nasty habiyt of doing the wrong thing, perhaps even more than indices ...... i am still sobbing about having taken my profit in SCHE (what a drip!)

I said from the 130's that SOLA would be a stock to trade up and down, and it has. I also questioned the future (not 2007) but 2008 onwards, in that would SOLA have lots of production capacity but potentially not many orders for 08 onwards.

Well, its looks like they can say goodbye to their customer Motech, at least in growth, if not some then perhaps all. Motech now setting up their own wafer plant in China. There is no barriers to entry, and with Motech pumping in 200m$ into a new facility in China, the future of wafers is perhaps ooking very diluted. Thats the trouble, the forecasts are concentrating on SOLA capacity, not on forward capacity in the market. Hey ho.....and for those who see any negative posts as a threat, I have not any position at present.

Motech to build wafer fab in Kunshan

According to industry sources, Motech Industries Inc. will set up a silicon wafer fab plant in Kunshan, mainland China. Company executives reportedly announced that AE Polysilicon will supply the fab's polysilicon demand. Volume production of the new plant will begin in 2008.

Motech will list the Kunshan plant on China's Stock Exchange. Motech itself is currently listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.

Furthermore, the company recently approved the issuance of global depositary receipts, which will raise about $200 million. The amount will be used for acquiring raw materials and equipment.

hlyeo98 - 05 Mar 2007 09:58 - 757 of 3050

Oh dear...can't imagine SOLA now 458p

cynic - 05 Mar 2007 10:28 - 758 of 3050

not too surprisingly, SOLA has taken another beating this morning and has dropped through the 465/470 support level that i mentiond a few posts back ...... on the positive side rsi is looking singularly oversold.

if you are a gambler and have nothing left in your lower intestine, you may want to consider buying at this level on the basis that at least a technical bounce across all markets is now (over)due ...... i am not brave enough!

hlyeo98 - 05 Mar 2007 10:41 - 759 of 3050

SOLA has gone through the support level and is still on the steep slope...I think SOLA will go down further to next support level at 400p.

fortitude18 - 05 Mar 2007 10:45 - 760 of 3050

cynic,

any fave stocks on your cynical list? Have learned a little with your suspicious and cautious nature.reckon its the most tried and trusted approach to stock picking and selling..

kind regards

goldfinger - 05 Mar 2007 10:46 - 761 of 3050

Thats what I was thinking, hlyeo.

Looks to be blind panic in this one.

oilyrag - 05 Mar 2007 10:48 - 762 of 3050

If this drops through next support level at 400p, the one after that is down at 220p approx.

cynic - 05 Mar 2007 10:53 - 763 of 3050

Forti .... in my opinion, do absolutely zilch until the markets show sustained calmness ..... one of my faves is undoubtedly PFC who have come in with cracking figures and forecast to day, yet the shares have dropped sharply ...... also, RTN whose figures come out tomorrow is also being unfairly lashed (as with many quality stocks) ..... both the above have threads and charts.

btw, gold bullion may be an interesting play as now down to $637 which ought to be a good support level ..... much of the fall is not only due to peeps liquidatying profitable positions, but also the sudden strength of $ ..... imo, this too is totally unwarranted ...... my suspicion is that it has something to do with carry trade positions being unwound (too complicated for me to understand properly! ...... however, if US is truly going into some kind of recession, then surely, while BoE may raise rates in the relatively near future, it becomes ever less likely in US

goldfinger - 05 Mar 2007 11:09 - 764 of 3050

Carry trade positions being unwound are certainly exaggerating the falls.

Interesting to note the Bubble areas of the market, Chinese stocks, Uranium, small brokers are getting battered harder than others.

Going to take a while before confidence returns to Chinese companies were suspicions were already prevelant.

fortitude18 - 05 Mar 2007 13:32 - 765 of 3050

cynic

would you agree that if the FED were to reduce interest rates that this would be viewed by the markets as a policy of pre-emptive action against a possible recession or a sign of panic?

F18

cynic - 05 Mar 2007 13:58 - 766 of 3050

guess so, but don't see that as likely to happen either .... however, my thoughts about $ strength being due to the unwinding of carry positions has been confirmed by our forex broker ...... as we always have excess $, we have just sold forward into early May @ 1.9250 or thereabouts ..... arguably premature, but as non-speculative, not fussed.

cynic - 05 Mar 2007 16:13 - 767 of 3050

well you barve and hopefull lucky gamblers, Dow is bouncing sharply, though no one knows how far or for how long and SOLA has bounced (just) off the 465/470 resistance ...... pays yer money; takes yer choice

me? ..... long Dow since this morning; just bought bullion (perhaps $5.00 late), so not jumping in here

HARRYCAT - 05 Mar 2007 16:34 - 768 of 3050

Bought some SOLA at 475p so hoping for a quick profit tomorrow before the downward slide again!
Presumably it is going to be the Nikkei which is going to affect us first & then the DOW. Double whammy. Lets hope the far east have a good session overnight.

cynic - 05 Mar 2007 16:38 - 769 of 3050

first things first .... F/E will follow USA .... Dow currently up about 100 from its low earlier today = down about 45 from its close last night ...... provided Dow does not have a late sell-off (surge would be lovely), then i would be surprised if F/E also did not stage some kind of rally ..... but be aware that it may be fragile and short-lived

HARRYCAT - 05 Mar 2007 16:43 - 770 of 3050

Sorry, yes DOW then Far East.
I agree absolutely. Finger is ready on the sell button!
