THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Yeah sorry cynic I meant 70% voted to remain and she couldn't even poll 50% so where she thinks she gets her mandate from I don't know.

It's suggest some remainers actually accept the vote and are as fed up as the rest of us with the remoaners.

cynic - 03 Dec 2016 18:30 - 75301 of 81564

DIL - it sounds a silly point to make as it's so obvious, but of course your right

HAZE - ferndown parish council election or what?

cynic - 03 Dec 2016 18:32 - 75302 of 81564

iturama - 03 Dec 2016 18:43 - 75303 of 81564

I believe it was the election for the Great Dorset Steam Fair committee. Could be wrong.

I subscribed to a VPN service when I was travelling a lot. I could then watch UK programms on my iPad or laptop.

Local council

MaxK - 03 Dec 2016 19:27 - 75305 of 81564

Is there some sort of purdah being imposed on Mondays supreme court thingy?

The newspapers don't seem to want to mention it.

But most important: What will happen if these worthies decide that your vote is meaningless?

Haystack - 03 Dec 2016 19:34 - 75306 of 81564

It is being televised online and on Sky News.

MaxK - 03 Dec 2016 20:28 - 75307 of 81564

Yes, Monday.

Where is the comment, analysis, argument?

The mail seems to be making an effort, but where is the graun (that well known champion of the working man) etc

A busy week in politics coming up, starting with today's votes in Italy and
Austria, then of course the supreme courts putting the wrongs by the high
court 'right' by reversing the unjust and undemocratic mistake that was made
at the high court in the first place...

All the vibes coming from Italy, that the Italian prime minster is wanting to
change the constitution to limit the power of the Italian parliament and give
more power to Brussels is going against Renzi, Renzi of course is a megga
europhiliac who is only to pleased to hand the running of Italy to Brussels...

As to Austria, which looks like it will be a close call, but hopefully Norbert
Hofer will win, and rectify the voter fraud that went on in the first vote...

cynic - 04 Dec 2016 12:14 - 75310 of 81564

i have faith in the uk judiciary though one my not always like or agree with the judgments handed down

Haystack - 04 Dec 2016 12:46 - 75311 of 81564

I think the judges will confirm the previous result and the decision will be made by Parliament. Labour and Lib will introduce amendments to any Bill in the Commons and the Lords. This could drag out the process by more than a year.

grannyboy - 04 Dec 2016 14:48 - 75312 of 81564

The decision by parliament HAS already been taken...When they had a vote
on having the referendum, and when you have a judiciary that is plainly EU
biased then the decisions of the court is brought into dispute..

As to cynic's observation in having faith in the uk judiciary is naive to the extreme!!

But its par for the course from cynic....

grannyboy - 04 Dec 2016 14:59 - 75313 of 81564

Haystack you and your prophacies rarely turn out to be reliable predictions,
or for anyone to bet the mortgage on, its down to you stuck in a dusty smokey,
whisky hue old gentlemans club, who believes there should be just one political
party, and that being a tory one ...

In fact i wouldn't be surprised if some of those old sops from the judiciary were
members in your local conservative 'gentle'mans clubs..

grannyboy - 04 Dec 2016 15:14 - 75314 of 81564

Little timmy farron was interviewed on the Daily Politics by Andrew Neil on
the 2/11, and he tried to hoodwink A.N and the watching viewers, then on
the Marr show they had the boy clegg lying and deceiving through his back
teeth, but, ho it comes so natural to the libdems that it must be a dispicable
trait that runs through the WHOLE of the LibDem party, after all there's paddy
'caught with his pants down' Ashdown the clown elect of the liberals.....

Haystack - 04 Dec 2016 16:34 - 75315 of 81564

Far right candidate in Austria has lost today. He has conceded defeat. He won in May but there were irregularities in the voting and the election has been rerun.

Haystack - 04 Dec 2016 16:36 - 75316 of 81564

Now we wait for the Italian referendum result.

grannyboy - 04 Dec 2016 16:55 - 75317 of 81564

NO the 'Far right candidate' did NOT win in May, it was won by the left-leaning
candidate but was voided because of postal voting irregularities...

And it wouldn't surprise me if there wasn't more skulduggery and shinanigans
to keep the staus quo in power in this election...
