THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

JULIAN ASSANGE RAPE ALLEGATION: 'Woman pursued me for five-times a night unprotected sex'

WIKILEAKS founder Julian Assange has claimed a woman he is accused of raping had pictures of him all over her computer and actively pursued him for consensual sex.

Julian-Assange-Statement

Julian Assange has released his full statement provided to Swedish prosecutors investigating rape.

Assange, who has been holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy in London for more than four years, to avoid being extradited to Sweeden over the allegations, has released in full, the statement he made to Swedish prosecutors last month when they visited him there.

In the statement, Assange, who denied the allegation, said he met the woman on the morning of August 14 2010 when she was photographing him at a speech he gave about the war in Afghanistan. Assange claimed in the statement the woman invited him to her home the night of August 16 and appeared "romantically interested" in him.

He said: "During that night and again in the morning we had consensual sexual intercourse on four or five occasions. Her words, her expressions and her physical reactions made it clear to me that she encouraged and enjoyed our interactions."

He went on to suggest she appeared like an infatuated groupie.

He added: "I would later discover that she had collected dozens of photos of me in the weeks before we even met. Her recent photo account was filled with pages and pages of photos of me and no other person."

He said that he left her house that day on good terms, but by August 20, she contacted him asking him to meet to to undergo tests for sexually transmitted diseases as the pair had unprotected sex. He added, that he agreed to meet the next day, but awoke to news that morning that he had been "arrested in his absence" for her rape.

Julian Assange claimed that text messages sent by the girl to her friends on the night of the sexual encounter, and subsequently, which have been seen by his lawyers, would prove he was innocent.

He claims that the woman never alleged she was raped in her own statement, and the case against him was initially dropped after he was interviewed by police on August 30.

He claims the case was "resurrected" by Swedish authorities in order that he could be held and extradited to the US in connection with top-secret US documents that had been released by Wikileaks.

This is the first time he has gone public with his version of events surrounding the rape allegation.

He said he was willing to make the statement six years ago if the Swedish authorities had earlier traveled to the UK.

Assange said he applied for asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy after being placed under house arrest due to strict bail conditions by UK police.

He said: "I was moved to house arrest after providing UK authorities with £340,000 and having an electronic monitoring device fitted to my ankle. I was forced to meet with police for 551 days in a row. I continued publishing regardless. I applied for asylum at the Ecuadorian embassy on 19 June 2012. The embassy was then
surrounded by police at an admitted cost to the UK taxpayer of £12.6 million by October 2015."

His statement ended with a remark to Swedish prosecutors:

"You have subjected me to six years of unlawful, politicised detention without charge in prison, under house arrest and four and a half years at this embassy. You should have asked me this question six years ago. Your actions in refusing to take my statement for the last six years have been found to be unlawful by the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention and by the Swedish Court of Appeal. You have been found to have subjected me to cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment."

Assange also claimed to have been denied legal representation during last month's questioning, when it is understood he also submitted a DNA sample.

The alleged rape remains under investigation.

Notes:

It is believed that Julian Assange chooses to live in Sweden because the country's media laws are among the world's most protective for journalists.

In 1987, Julian Assange formed a hacking group called the International Subversives.

WikiLeaks is funded by donations, it received more than $200,000 after the release of the Apache helicopter video.

Julian Paul Assange studied at the University of Melbourne where he studied Programming, Mathematics, and Physics, but he did not complete the degree.

According to US reports, Julian Assange was not seen as a 'journalist', but as a 'spy' and a 'terrorist'.

In 1991, Julian Assange hacked into the computer system of the Canadian telecom powerhouse Nortel. He was arrested and convicted of hacking but did not go to jail.

In November 2010, Julian Assange was alleged to have committed several crimes against a woman during a visit to Sweden.

Whilst NI is hiked up for those earning more than £43k pa and to cost them £200 extra pa, some others have it 'very nice, thank you.'

Osborne earns £500,000 from New York speeches:

The former chancellor’s outside earnings in those two months alone are almost seven times higher than his annual salary as a backbench parliamentarian, which is around £74,000.

The latest three engagements to be declared are £85,396.24 from Citibank for two speeches, £34,109.14 from Black Rock, the investment firm, and £68,125.35 from Centerbridge Partners, a private investment firm.

Previous registers showed he was paid for another five speeches earning him between £28,000 and £81,000 each.

The most lucrative were two events for JP Morgan, the investment bank, at £81,174 and £60,578 each, one for Palmex Derivatives at £80,240, and another for the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association for £69,992.

The cheapest was an hour-long address to the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, for which he was paid £28,454.

Not a good result for UKIP in a Leave constituency. Even worse for Labour who were second at the GE.

Sleaford & North Hykeham result:

CON: 53.5% (-2.7)
UKIP: 13.5% (-2.2)
LDEM: 11.0% (+5.3)
LAB: 10.2% (-7.0)
LIND: 8.8% (+3.6)

Makes you laugh Osbourne making all that money from speeches for big banks , didn't he say we were going to sink if we voted out .

MaxK - 09 Dec 2016 15:40 - 75392 of 81564

It's just a way of buying influence, hedging bets, who knows where he will end up.

We may sink yet. We haven't left.
