How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

What % of test matches end in a draw?

bakko - 06 Jan 2006 00:11 - 7630 of 10502

Morning All,

Just turned the cricket on and looks quite interesting!

Fundamentalist - 06 Jan 2006 00:17 - 7631 of 10502

Cloudbase

not a good statistic to use because the number is decreasing as every year goes by, so depends if you look at 3,5,10,20 yr stats

ive got em somewhere, will post them up when the game goes quiet

Fundamentalist - 06 Jan 2006 00:28 - 7632 of 10502

declared

287 off 75 overs needed

Fundamentalist - 06 Jan 2006 00:28 - 7633 of 10502

76 overs sorry

Cloudbase - 06 Jan 2006 00:29 - 7634 of 10502

Thanks, why are the no. decreasing? a change in the style of the game?

Cloudbase - 06 Jan 2006 00:31 - 7635 of 10502

Well you can't say SA are'nt trying to win this.
Not a stupid run rate either...game on.

schiff - 06 Jan 2006 00:37 - 7636 of 10502

Fundy - I now see where I got it wrong. In 7633 you say 'some of them (like me) are habitual draw layers' but you obviously don't do it at the KO of football matches (7593).

On Ceefax (341/1) Shaun Pollock is on record as saying that SA will risk losing the 3rd Test in a bid to tie the series against Australia. Maybe that might be of help to you all. Cloudbase seems to have twigged it!

Schiff

sorry, the habitual draw laying is test cricket only - not footie - and its make or break time in the next few hours :-)

Cloudbase - 06 Jan 2006 00:42 - 7638 of 10502

schiff..... thanks for that news, just added a bit more to my draw lay.

Harlosh - 06 Jan 2006 00:52 - 7639 of 10502

Bak, you still there? OK for next thursday with Steve and I.

Just looking in, not trading, after watching the Hunt for Red October for the umpteenth time :-)

Fundamentalist - 06 Jan 2006 00:54 - 7640 of 10502

John

if the weather holds there is 6 hours great trading ahead - stay up and join the party :-)

Harlosh - 06 Jan 2006 01:09 - 7641 of 10502

Used to stay up half the night but not anymore Steve. Can't hack it. Anyway, I struggle to trade cricket at the best of times let alone the middle of the night.

You keep missing Bak's posts by the way.

Cloudbase - 06 Jan 2006 01:18 - 7642 of 10502

Fundy.....what a difference PRO makes. A question if i may. Showing green on AUS and SA and red on the draw. To green up on individual lines will i have to do it manualy? and if so could you refresh me memory please.

Fundamentalist - 06 Jan 2006 01:21 - 7643 of 10502

Cloudbase

if you want equal green across them then you best bet is to back the draw for the amount of green you have on the results then green up on the draw line (thats assuming you have equal greens, if you dont you will need to do manually)

Cloudbase - 06 Jan 2006 01:25 - 7644 of 10502

No i don't have equal greens, and to complicate still have fair size draw lay running.

Fundamentalist - 06 Jan 2006 01:33 - 7645 of 10502

If you want to post your amounts ill work it out and explain it for you

Cloudbase - 06 Jan 2006 01:36 - 7646 of 10502

Thanks
Aus......Green 110.03

Sa........Green 107.81

Draw....Red 35.10

in addion have 85.77 draw lay open at average 1.41

amberjane - 06 Jan 2006 01:38 - 7647 of 10502

Sounds like your gunna have another late one Fundy, you at it again? Had to leave you the other nite, you've got even me on your hours :>)

Fundamentalist - 06 Jan 2006 01:40 - 7648 of 10502

Cloudbase

what do you mean in addition you have a draw lay of 85.77 at average 1.41. Does this mean your total book is as above or is it
Aus 195.80
SA 183.58
Draw -70.27

im confused what you mean - can u clarify
