THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

It won't be long before Macron is up to his knees in farm manure. He has even less chance of taming the vested interests than the pillion rider had. He will have a lot to say about Brexit, Poland and Hungary however. I somehow can't take serious someone who decides to marry his mother. Weird. Before we know it, his popularity will be as low as the already forgotten one who couldn't even run for re-election.

You don't get 10 years for planning to bomb a train XL. But stealing from the gas meter...

I might be wrong here but if Le Penn had won and migrants decided to miss on France that would have put us no 1 target for them maybe , just a step too far at this time as we still have two years to go .

The irony... Sky - " Hollande and Macron are attending the VE ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe and then will go to meet the acknowledged leader in Europe, Angela Merckel".

VICTIM - 08 May 2017 10:27 - 76716 of 81564

Are they arm in arm saying we will pull through together .

Laurenrose - 08 May 2017 10:37 - 76717 of 81564

Macron want to renegotiate the Me Fouquet treaty where visitor's passports are checked on the French side. He wants us to do it, meaning they would be here and won't go back.

My next door neighbour has bought an electric Tesla car. It is amazing. Does around 350 miles on a charge and 0-60 in around 3 seconds. The console is a screen the size of a laptop. It has permanent connection to internet with a Spotify account. Tiny electric motor under back of car. Large boot front and back. Looks like the latest high end Jag.

re- migration

Haven't we heard that before from the Cons, and she was in charge of the Home Office?
I suspect the year will be 2022 another Con.
Slowly I am getting more negative of her calls and the idea of getting the rich richer at the end always wins

I do not like Corbyn, but May early talk of aiming for a more equal Britain gets the thumbs down so far.
Less crap Jewellery and more action with your words (meaning )

May Pledges To Reduce Annual Net Migration To Below 100,000

Prime Minister Theresa May on Monday promised to keep her Conservative party's target of reducing Britain's annual net migration levels to below 100,000 arrivals, ahead of the expected publication of her election manifesto next week.

May said the target is necessary because of the impact that migration "has, particularly on people at the lower end of the income scale, and in terms of the pressure on public services.

"I think it is important that we continue, and we will continue, to say that we do want to bring net migration down to sustainable levels," May said at a party event in London ahead of the snap general election on June 8.

"We believe that is the tens of thousands," May said after she was asked about her policy on net migration, which totalled 270,000 annually according to the most recent government data.

"And, of course, once we leave the EU we will have the opportunity to ensure that we have control of our borders here in the UK, because we'll be able to establish our rules for people coming from the EU into the UK."

May's Conservatives are expected to win a large parliamentary majority in the election, after she asked voters to back her leadership and her plans for negotiating Britain's exit from the EU.

Recent opinion polls put the Conservatives 15-20 percentage points ahead of Labour, the largest opposition party.

TM must be nuts to make that immigration promise yet again

to all intents and purposes, it cannot stand up, not least because entry should assuredly be permitted for workers with specific skills and with a job to go to - and as specified on their visa

when/if you change job, then the new employer will be required to go through proper process to have the visa and its holder formally transferred
i think that is what happens in ksa, and quite possibly elsewhere in the world

withholding the visa holder's passport by the employer should however NOT be allowed, as that is akin to incitement to slavery

Haystack - 08 May 2017 17:09 - 76729 of 81564

We did have net migration in the tens of thousands in the 90s. Blair changed that.

cynic - 08 May 2017 17:13 - 76730 of 81564

confess that surprises me greatly, though i accept it would have been well below current levels ...... one gets the impression that we now accept not only the man and his dog, but also his extended family

ksa is pretty brutal
certainly asian workers are allowed no one but themselves
i'm not sure what the rules are with europeans

jimmy b - 08 May 2017 21:51 - 76731 of 81564

Correct haystack ....

cynic that'll do for me ,,better than the slime bag that is Macron , you just wait and see he will cause us all sorts of problems.
