Kivver Yes, I do think everyone should have a stop figure set, if it gets hit, get out, if you want to you can always get back in later, at least you wont loose it all.

I never hold any shares too long; (apart from a few long term ones) normally its a matter of hrs only, but an exit point is set each time, you have to be ready to get out, and quick, then admit your timing was wrong, (again).

I made the same mistake as yourself many times, but Im trading full time now, so it's become more crucial than ever, and I treat it just like a business, I even pay myself a wage.

Well done prodman, part time investor with a full time job so cannot watch at all times. The broker i use does not have a stop loss facility. im also starting with small investment hoping to watch it grow. Tend to put bigger amoounts into ftse 100 & 250 and small amounts into smaller speculative shares. A policy which is giving me a fair amount of success. If you add dividends i have some great results with tesco, baa, atkins, capita, mccarthy and stone, and nat grid (no failures). Smaller successes, mph, asc, and my first investment science systems now codasscisys, where i quadrupled my money (failures cybit, tadpole, transence, centurion electronics, alizyme, but still holing all because i think they will all go higher, blind faith perhaps)

A bit more of a rise and then the shorters are going to close.

Not so sure if I was a shorter why I would close currently( i am not btw) the company announced the deal 3 weeks ago and we still do not know any more and the share price has dropped 30%.
This circular should have been out within a week, 2 max, what are they playing at, if tyhey want a hard time at the EGM they are going the right way about it!

Anyone seen/heard of the briefing note that Tad was supposedly sending round to fund managers/analysts yesterday?

[edit] perhaps a more horizontal development is underway on the chart now, but a rise to 15.75p as predicted by some in the short term is highly unlikely imho

The National Association of GIS-Centric Software (NAGCS) announced their formation today. NAGCS is an association of software ESRI Authorized Developers dedicated to providing enterprise GIS solutions while promoting the unique characteristics and benefits of GIS-centric software and applications. The association also promotes interoperability, open standards and shared access among related applications, distinguishing these applications and software systems from other approaches.

The GIS GeoDatabase is the feature database.
Non-redundant feature data storage.
Feature data model is fully user-definable and customizable without vendor support.

Interoperable, providing maximum compatibility with any other GIS-centric application, including concurrent use of the feature geodatabase.
Feature data coordinate location and connectivity is inherent in the feature data model, enabling full utilization of the spatial analysis capabilities of the GIS, including linear referencing, events and other GIS functionality.
Feature data is created and maintained using the GIS tools for editing, including data error identification and correction methods.

The founding members of NAGCS recognize the unparalleled benefits of GIS-centric systems. All these firms are founded on that principal and are among the fastest growing companies in their sector, says Brian Haslam, President of Azteca Systems. This Board seems to have gone as dead as the share price!
I can understand the uncertainty until the EGM and details of the takeover are finalised, but I think that the drop in price is overdone and probably due to the weakness of the overall markets too.
Now shall I buy some more!

I see Tad have Eight vacancies to fill, 4 Cartesia and 4 ETI.
Looks like business is booming.

do any1 have any idea when the whole software sector is gonna come out of this depression, apart from some small gains which have since disapeared id say the software sector is still in the the downtrend started at the turn of the millenium, i strongly believe when we come out of this you will see some big gains but do any1 know WHEN
