THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Dil

"Just tweeted Corbyn M but his account seems to be playing up ... suggested he have a word with ISIS in the morning and that should sort it.

Bunch of scum bag cowards, total losers and no life arsehole's"
.

I suggest we send you and Martini and a few nuke hand grenades to sort the problem out.

But for "our" or "their" god's sake don't talk to the "enemies" as some of them might turn out to be friends.1

Should be fun dancing around the fires in ruins!

Martini - 04 Jun 2017 20:02 - 77311 of 81564

As usual you leap to conclusions with no facts to back it up.

I actually agree with Corbyn that we should ditch Nuclear weapons. Not because they are inherently bad but but because I can not see when, we as a country, will ever use them on our own. I would rather spend the Billions on conventional forces which would be more useful in defending this country from the threats we are facing.

What I find unacceptable from Corbyn is his belief that all things can be sorted out by talking. Sometimes brute force needs to be challenged by brute force and his weasel wording around what he really believes on Trident.

I also question if he has the intellect or courage to take the hard decisions that come with being PM.

Thank God our police did what was necessary in London and saved many more lives by taking those 3 out straight away. With Corbyn in charge he would have wanted to send negotiators in for a chat before giving the Police the power to do what was needed.

O and putting your post in Bold font does not make it any more right.

Martini - 04 Jun 2017 20:15 - 77312 of 81564

O and I think my mind on this was made up many years ago by watching this episode of Yes Prime Minister https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHP_LOtx6Ik

Fred1new - 04 Jun 2017 20:55 - 77313 of 81564

Martini,

I made a mistake with highlighting.

Didn't check and have addressed the matter.

A bit tired after returning from London where I was talking with somebody working in the home office about the "terrorist" threat and associated problems.

-=-=-=-=

Personally, I thought previous remarks by you and Dil were sneering and misrepresentative of Corbyn's position and policies.

To me, Corbyn appears to be advocating attempting the increase of UN powers and having greater involvement of it when trying to resolve political and military problems.

He does not reject the use of force in some circumstances but would prefer a negotiate solution if possible.

As would anybody with any sense and consideration for fellow humanity.

That involves negotiation not just a rush to brute force with the belief that one's own
present or previously held opinions about those who oppose you to be valueless and irrational.

I am not sure of Corbyn's abilities but he does seem to believe in a collegiate type of government and rather than being self-opinionated, arrogant and elite about his own qualification and he does take in into consideration other peoples' rights and opinions.

-=-==--=

For various reasons I am against judicial death penalties, but not against the actions of police or armed forces in situations which have just occurred. (From facts stated.)

But it may have been more useful to have captured and interrogated the "terrorists" and perhaps gained useful information.

I have no sympathy for the acts the terrorists carried out, but would have been interested in knowing their "reasoning" for their actions, in order to build an approached to the problems of "terrorism" rather than see their deaths turn them into martyrs and increase the rationale for their "cause".

You were right about me sneering at Corbyn and his loony views Fred.

Sooner he's gone the better.

"We have appointed a law and a practice for every one of you"

YOU can guess...I'll supply the facts.....

And i wonder if you ever properly read what you are posting in your own defence,
and to back your arguments up???...

"We have appointed a law and a practice for every one of you"

Meaning if you don't follow the will of Alhah you WILL suffer the consequence's
of death..

You are a fool cynic..

cynic - 05 Jun 2017 08:15 - 77316 of 81564

as usual you cherry pick and take out of context to suit your bigoted views and to promote intolerance and worse

cynic - 05 Jun 2017 08:18 - 77317 of 81564

this is interesting .... from today's FT ....

Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and the UAE sever ties with Qatar
Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates have cut ties with Qatar, accusing the Gulf state of undermining the security of its neighbours and financing terrorism.
Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry tweeted that in an effort to protect “national security from threats of terrorism and extremism, Saudi Arabia has decided to sever diplomatic and consular relations with the State of Qatar”.
In a series of follow-up tweets, Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry said it had decided to close land, sea and air links with Qatar.

We all know the answer...

KATIE HOPKINS: You’re right, Theresa. We cannot go on like this. But do you have the balls to do what’s REALLY needed and lock up the 3,000 terror suspects tomorrow?

A bit what i thought she has to back it up now . She has 3 days to redeem herself .

cynic - 05 Jun 2017 08:38 - 77320 of 81564

a typical simplistic answer ..... did such action work in northern ireland? ..... do you suggest we should have our own "guantanamo bay"?

if there was an easy answer, then i'm sure it would or even would have been actioned

however, i very much hope that we'll see the "removal" in way or another of imams who preach extremism and the closure of their mosques

There is certainly talk of (instant) deportation of non-british born extremists - sorry fred, but ECHR and similar bodies should be told to keep their noses out, and in no uncertain terms - but that of course does not resolve what to do with those who are of british birth

VICTIM - 05 Jun 2017 08:45 - 77321 of 81564

It's a bit worrying when as reported in the last two incidents , that locals have had the nerve/guts to report these individuals to the authorities and seemingly nothing was done . It is good to hear they do this , but to realise their warnings aren't heeded must disappoint them . I know it's not easy for anti terror police but laws must come in to help get these prospective killers off the streets .

cynic - 05 Jun 2017 08:53 - 77322 of 81564

as was said by the head of COBRA this morning, the evidence that they have or had on all sorts of people is often unacceptable (as proof) in court ..... so now what?

jimmy b - 05 Jun 2017 09:04 - 77323 of 81564

So now what ? how about this ....

''I am not sure of Corbyn's abilities but he does seem to believe in a collegiate type of government and rather than being self-opinionated, arrogant and elite about his own qualification''

That's purely because he doesn't have any qualifications, ------unless you count 2 E's at 'A' level

Fred1new - 05 Jun 2017 09:26 - 77328 of 81564

George,

Corbyn is a journeyman who has learned his trade.

Not dropped into office because he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and daddies contacts.

==-=-=-=

If an Imam or other is transgressing the laws of the country, prosecute them, judge them and penalise them if found guilty.

I would prefer my enemy in my gun site rather than exporting to their country of origin to plot my downfall.

Also, do you think a fortress Britain will prevent "terrorists" entering and leaving the country?

Look back at the WW2 and the comings and goings.

Also, as a total, although less spectacular Internet and IT crimes will be the more dangerous "terrorism" for the UK.
