Dowgate Capital - Capitalising on the booming AIM market (DGT)

overgrowth - 09 Feb 2005 20:52

Dowgate Capital (DGT) are sitting in the middle of a goldmine!

This company through their sole trading arm City Financial Associates are looking to take full advantage of the "booming" AIM market this year. Dowgate provide NOMAD (NOMinated ADvisor) services to AIM companies and also have full Corporate Broker status which means that they can fund placements on behalf of the companies they represent.

On first sight, the fact that Dowgate exist in the often veiled financial services sector makes you think twice about investing in company such as this because it would be impossible to understand what they were doing - however, think again!

DGT bring new companies to the AIM (Alternative Investment Market). For each new company "floated" on AIM, they take arrangement fees when acting as NOMAD. After the company is launched then for a nice steady earner DGT get another healthy chunk of cash every year for looking after them (note that all AIM companies must have a nominated adviser - thereby securing a ready source of recurring income).

Because DGT also act as a Corporate broker they can get a very healthy percentage for arranging placement of shares with insititutions before a new company floats. In addition, because placements come outside the sphere of yearly NOMAD work, they can also gain healthy percentages of placements which companies may need to make throughout the year when they need a quick injection of cash to speed growth.

Current NOMADships: 28 companies represented (gives recurring income of approx 480,000 per year)

Current on-going Brokerage agreements: 19 companies (income depends on placements)

For flotations, depending on the size of a company, fees charged will be anything from 50,000 to 100,000+ For placements (the real earner), DGT get anything from 3% to around 12% of the TOTAL AMOUNT RAISED - For example a new company raising 3M though a placement will earn DGT anything from 90,000 to 360,000 ! These figures are indicative as actual deals all differ due to circumstances and DGT sometimes take payment in shares - they still have a tasty chunk of Setstone shares and when this Russian exploration company comes back to AIM, predictions are that the share price will rocket. Note that the amount that this little company can earn in fees is huge and every new deal that comes through we know will contribute another healthy chunk into the bottom line. The good news with every new floatation means that it's another chunk of recurring revenue which could go on for years, with DGT having to do very little. New clients gained in 2005 are:

Mediazest (NOMAD & broker) Elite Strategies (NOMAD) Process Handling (NOMAD) Poland Investment Fund (NOMAD) Nanotech Energy (NOMAD & broker) Archimedia Ventures (NOMAD & broker) Red Leopard Holdings (NOMAD) Alba Mineral Resources (NOMAD & broker) Intandem Films (NOMAD & broker) Motive Television (NOMAD) IncaGold (NOMAD) Sportswinbet (NOMAD & Broker) Infoscreen Networks (NOMAD & Broker) Mark Kingsley (NOMAD & Broker) Croatia Ventures (NOMAD & Broker) Pantheon Leisure (NOMAD) Firenze Ventures (Ofex Advisor) FlightStore Group (NOMAD & Broker) Euro Capital Projects (NOMAD) Pearl Street Holdings (NOMAD) Worldwide Natural Resources (Ofex Advisor) Dovedale Ventures (Ofex Advisor) Other 2005 work completed:Neptune-Calculus VCT offer for subs of up to 12 million Advisory work for TGM on London Bus disposal for 20.4M Advisory work for Creightons on property disposal Advisory work for Hampton Trust on company restructuring Advisory work for Interbulk Investments on acquisition of Inbulk Advisory work for Fundamental-e Investments on two disposals Advisory work for Designer Vision re: Design Rights against Centurion Electronics

Will be interesting to see if we start down tomorrow, a 800k 'sell' appeared quite late on (after the 500k sell). Can't understand why anyone would want to sell under the current circumstances, but each have their reasons I expect.

I'm not convinced that some of the bargains marked as sells weren't buys - there was a dichotomy (no, not dogotomy, sd) between sells at 0.42 or 0.41 and transactions at 0.45 to 0.47. Not sure whether there is more than one MM with DGT but, if so, one could be quoting one thing when the other is doing the business (no, sd, not that sort of business). Anyway, momentum is building up nicely and we should be on the road before long.

Eric

DGT currently have 3 MMs, so there may be some truth in your post. I'm not sure of the rules reporting trades of greater than the NMS, I will have to look them up, but the 800k trade was larger than the NMS and therefore can be reported late, although I think by just a few hours, in which case it would have been a sell. See what happens tomorrow methinks. Certainly, I feel that interest in DGT is gathering momentum and we all know how this stock can spike (sd) when that happens!

PTH, and Eric,
I must be losin` it but when are interims expected. Is it september ?? or before.

stockdog - 15 Jun 2005 18:55 - 778 of 2787

Eric - I do know the difference - a dogotomy is when you cut your dog off . . . .

All MMs were showing the same bid/offer (with most shares the quoted spread seen at level 1 is the bid from one MM and the offer from another, giving a tighter spread than any one MM - my free trial of level 2 is quite fun to see how it all works, especially with Automatic Settlement deals - none of these on AIM stocks).

Can't see it will fall back tomorrow, but what does a dog know? (no need to answer that one, thank you).

TR stated at the AGM and in an email to myself that the Interims would be out in July, probably the latter part i should think.

OK, get your anoraks out, chaps. The price went from 40/50 to 45/53 at about 14.15hrs today. After that time there were the following trades:-

14:19 288,560 at .42 - definite sell either price level - also odd number of this size usually means sell
15:13 229,664 at .46 - probably sell ,but could just have been last buy at just above old mid price
15:27 250,000 at .52 - definite buy either price level
16:13 800,000 at .45 - broker selling to another to another broker short of stock at favoured rate
16:18 200,000 at .47- definite sell new price level
16:19 1,000,000 at .50 - T trade protected buy until completed in seveeral parts, but market got wind and raised the price before it was announced
16:21 250,000 at .52 - definite buy
16:30 500,000 at .45 - must assume this is a sell
16:13 800,000 at .46 - reported late although not marked so. I guess this is the broker who bought the 800k from a friend above concluding the sale to a client who commissioned him prior to price rise at a very favourable rate- so counts as a buy at the old level in fact

So total of 1,218,224 sells and 2,300,000 buys (broker to broker not counted as either) after price rise.

Of course the above could be total bollocks, but at least it would be the dog's bollocks!

sd

that's two loads of bollocks (SEO thread) which means you now have a matching pair, or even twin a set!!

In the final anlaysis the SP went up the best part of 10% again, hopefully we can hold this for the remainder of the week.

What it does demonstrate however, is that the MMs do not have any stock apart from that they are buy on a daily basis. And why should they? MMs are not investors and do not generally have large quantities of stock on their books, particularly slow movers like DGT can be.

As this new momentum gathers pace, I would expect to see a few treeshakes along the way. There will be quite a few PIs sitting on nice profits now, (including myself actually) and may be panicked into selling. My only advice to all, is that I believe this is heading for at least 1p and possibly more. The SP will be woth that price based on the fundamentals at the H1 stage. Will that's AIMHO, but work it out for yourselves!!

Well done pth and sd. Impressive new-found knowledge, doggy friend. Now get that cat-grin off your face; just as if you'd pinched the mog's cream! You get the impression that a base-camp is being laid for the ascent ahead. As for holidng on the shares after the rise: am approaching break-even an will probably keep total value at about the current level by cashing part; feel I can probably make the funds work better with SEO and ASC CFDs and can't trade DGT that way.

Out of interest, just been having a look at the historical chart and the effect that expectation can have on this stock prior to results. Aug 04-Sep 05 saw the SP increase exactly 50% over that period. Food for thought?

pth

PS When I said i was sitting on a nice profit, I actually meant some of my holding, not all of it, although not far off break even now.

snakey - 16 Jun 2005 00:12 - 784 of 2787

pth,
here`s another "day brightener" for ya, especially if you have cats as pets !!
HOW TO GIVE YOUR CAT A PILL:

1) Pick cat up and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.

2) Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process.

3) Retrieve cat from bedroom. Throw away soggy pill.

4) Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm holding rear paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten.

5) Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe. Call spouse from garden.

6) Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees. Hold front and rear paws. Ignore low growls. Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.

7) Retrieve cat from curtain rail. Get another pill from foil wrap. Make note to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set to one side for gluing later.

8) Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with head just visible below armpit. Put pill in end of drinking straw, force mouth open with pencil and blow down drinking straw.

9) Check label to make sure pill not harmful to humans. Drink one glass beer to take taste away. Apply plaster to spouse's forearm and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap.

10) Retrieve cat from neighbour's shed. Get another pill. Open another beer. Place cat in cupboard and close door onto neck to leave head showing. Force mouth open with dessert spoon. Flick pill down throat with elastic band.

11) Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges. Drink beer. Fetch bottle of scotch. Pour shot. Drink. Apply cold compress to cheek and check records for date of last tetanus jab. Apply whisky compress to cheek to disinfect. Toss back another shot. Throw ripped tee-shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.

12) Ring fire brigade to retrieve the f***ing cat from tree across the road. Apologize to neighbour who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid cat. Take last pill from foil-wrap.

13) Tie the little bastard's front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table. Fetch heavy duty gardening gloves from shed. Push pill into mouth followed by large piece of fillet steak. Be rough about it. Hold head vertically and pour 2 pints of water down throat to wash pill down.

14) Consume remainder of Scotch. Get spouse to drive you to Emergency Room. Sit quietly while doctor stitches fingers and forearm and removes pill remnants from right eye. Call furniture shop on way home to order new table.

15) Arrange for RSPCA to collect mutant cat from hell and ring local pet shop to see if they have any hamsters.

a little bit more dangerous than investing in shares eh !!

Pete, wish I'd researched your tip in more detail. Might have some DGT next week when I have some funds. For once wish I had a dog in my portfolio to dump!

I am assuming that this is the run up to the Interims, although possibly just other investors beginning to catch on. Most likely a bit of both. I hadn't really expected any surge until next month. Whatever ground we make now will be a real solid foundation for the real run up. I would expect a considerable rise during that period and also on publication, because as long as there are no gremlins in the Interims (can't think why there should be) they will be very good.

up again... sell @ .58 now wooohooo
Damn nearly topped by @.37 earlier this month...urggggh INDECISIONS!!!!
I dont think people will sell this share untill it hits .75... then a few people will take some profit however the short term target for most is around 1p!
This share has so much potential to reach 1.40 by year end!
