Meanwhile, oil and gas explorer Desire Petroleum saw its shares jump more than 6% to 56p after it said 3D seismic had identified large oil prospects in the North Falkland Basin.
It said the targets had the potential to produce more than a billion barrels of recoverable oil, and it was making preparations for a three-well drilling programme.
Desire now aims to raise up to 25.15million through a placing of shares and open offer to take its Falkland Islands exploration forward.
The company has also announced an agreement with new UK-based oil and gas company Rockhopper Exploration under which Rockhopper will earn up to a 15% working interest in Desire's exploration licences by funding up to 30% of the costs of the drilling.
Desire added that the new 3D seismic and existing 2D seismic had identified prospects with more than two billion barrels of recoverable oil. It said the fundraising would allow it to move more rapidly to commission a rig, and that drilling was likely to begin towards the year-end.

Hi all
The candles that we see from Friday last to todays, are in a short term up trend. This could change tomorrow, if we have another increase. The last two candles that we have, had lows of 0.525p. This is called a tweezers bottom with peircing pattern. If DES goes up tomorrow then we have confirmation of this being the bottom. The resistance is at about 0.60p, so the risk vs rewards are stacked in favour of reward ! So all being well DES should rise again tomorrow. If DES goes through the 0.60p we will have a break out ! This will be absolutly FAN-tastic !
DES is now sat above the 10 day moving average !
Thanks markymar, ehall

Well I take no pleasure in saying it but I did tell you so. This share is a dog with fleas. It is fanciful to imagine the share price shooting up into the stratosphere of new found wealth but the plain fact is it will never do so. It has a history for disappointing and I fear that trend will continue for quite some time yet. My advice, and good advice it most certainly is, is to bail out now -while the price is still over 50p. It wont be there too much longer!!!
If you want a share that will make you money try Kenmare Resources (KMR). It has a solid business model with sound infrastructure and brilliant forward earnings potential.

'a dog with fleas' my arse! that why its up 400% in the 12 months! just raised 16 million from insitutions, who quite obviously disagree with the flea theory. oh.. and within the next 12months will be drilling in the falklands for a possible 2 billion barrels of 'recoverable' oil.

It does seem a bit unsubstantiated to advise selling without any other reason than there not being a 'stratospheric' share price rise. The old adage rome was not built in a day. Negatives aside, IMHO, DES has responded remarkably to an issue of 30mil odd shares. Would it be fair to assume 45p as the short-term support?

Hi tau, I guess it could be, it would be disaster for the open offer if it fell below 45p. I am hopefull that 50p will be bottom here until either the placing is over or we hear more about partners or rigs.

Pro, could you please let us know what your advice is based upon? It is healthy to have two sides to a debate but there are no hard facts from you for us to consider. Without these how can anyone make rational decisions? Sorry, but A dog with fleas doesnt help me. Even if, in your opinion, this is the case about this share, then to be honest, I quite like this "dog" because given all the information and facts that are currently available to us all, 50p will be a bargain before long. Once the share issue is over next month, we can confidently expect DES to track inexorably northwards.

Risk value = 394!!! Makes no money ...er, except from new issues!!! As I write, todays stats = Buys() 93,244 Sells() 318,412 Share price down 0.91%. Seems I'm not the only one looking down from a great height at DES!!!

Pro,
The latest RNS quoted the size of the prospects identified by the 2D and 3D seismic surveys as being in excess of 2 billion barrels of RECOVERABLE oil. If Desire get $35 a barrel this could mean:
2,000,000,000 X $35 = $70,000,000,000.00
Divided by 220,000,000 shares (after Placing/Open Offer) =
$318.18 divided by 1.80 to convert to sterling = 176.76 a share. Thanks for the calcs Minnows! Even if DES was taken over and got $5 per barrel I'd be very happy.
Whatever the outcome the current share price is indeed "peanuts".
I agree they have got to go and get the stuff first but this share will soon have zero's like fleas and I'm happy with that prospect.

well said jp
i had calculated the possible max worth
along the same lines but was
afraid to post incase people thought
i was mad
notwithstanding all that .45p - 176.00
is a fair spread 5.00 would be good 50 we could all
retire ( getting a bit carried away now )
as for a dog with fleas drown the dog and the fleas go away
the dog and fleas poster is the mad one

Obviously the calcs are very rough and ready and do not take into account production costs, tax etc, but even so, you get the drift! DES is a winner in the wings waiting to happen.

nice posting today..... what is clear is the potential becomes apparent when the calculation is done and that is why we are all posting and fighting the DES corner. Time will tell, thats why we are all in and holding. IMO after the placing has taken place and the dust has settled more calculations will be done by more buyers..

Hi all
Well we didn't get the bounce today. The market has tested the support level again though. The candle that came out on Friday closed at 0.5275p. If you look at todays close it was at 0.5275p. Also look where the candles are sitting, they are on top of the 10 day moving average. They have not been on top of this average for 20 days. The candles are just below the 20 day moving average. The market has been testing this level for the last three days. Chances are then the bounce may come tomorrow. If you draw a line from the bottom of shaddow on Thursdays candle to the bottom of todays candle. This will give you the short trend, which like the main trend is up !
Lots of positive postings today !
Good Luck All
