Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

A positive statement from TM and showing a strong hand and not refering to her personal defeat. Loose a battle but win the war - Good for her. Now the troops need to stand behind their leader ever more than before.

Mrs May cannot survive for long. That manifesto and her presidential campaign killed her chance of gaining a majority. The Tory's will get rid of her once the dust has settled. The one bit of good news is that my local Tory was returned despite a strong challenge from the Lib-dem who held this seat until 2015.

Manuel,
Your wife must be from good genetic stock.
"The unstated killer" was that many people examine the tory failures in office and lack of Brexit policies and trying to cover up the previous tory party's dishonest smart arsed reasoning for having a referendum and dismissal of a large proportion of the more "unfortunate" and less off voters by prolonging unnecessary austerity for party political reasons.
Also, the secrecy and dishonesty over the possible outcome of the Brexit negotiations.
Simply, more people didn't trust May or her government.
Also, the voters saw Corbyn as more acceptable and honest than portrayed by the vitriolic sneering right winged press.
-=-=-=-=-
Personally, I feel sorry for Clegg who I thought, in general, and respect his decision to support the previous coalition, and appeared, to be honest, intelligent and thoughtful and had decent standards. (The country needed a coalition government and stability, which he enabled.
I will miss Salmond, and a little surprised that Sturgeon played her hand so badly.

Although it is the norm for the Con Party to ditch their leader after suffering any defeat, this is the one occasion that if they do they will be punished and ditched for years to come. Dig in the trench and lets wait till ready to go back on the offensive, rather than start infighting in the party. Stand firm and show down the oppostion, their days will be numbered if you live up to deliver the goods.

Clocktower,
With troops like May has behind her, she should be frightened to turn her back on them.

Fred1new, She has no need to turn her back, just face the enemy , having licked her wounds and dusted the troops down, ready to move forward and show steel and balls in the face of the comon enemy - the EU unelected power hunger servants that act as though they are the rulers.

That'll be me Fred, and I repeat what I said on the other thread which brought an unnecessary obnoxious comment from you.
'' I have to say that I completely mis-judged that, I didn't believe so many northern voters could be so gullible as to swallow Labour's sweets for all campaign, but I was wrong.''

May would sit on a horse backwards, if she thought doing so would save her.
Her politics belong to colonial days. But it obvious that some tories miss matron.
She will be invisible, not invincible.

The BBC think May will be gone by the summer, so who should take over from her?

Actually, with the DUP behind her, on the face of it, she is in an excellent and very strong position.
With Arlene Foster, the Democratic Unionist Party leader, the DUP is now a changed party from the days when Ian Paisley led it. The DUP opposes abortion and gay marriage (too late now, though, eh?). The DUP is also opposed to means testing winter fuel payments or abandoning the ‘triple lock’ on state pensions.
However, Arlene is loathed by Sinn Fein, which has refused to return to the Stormont Assembly while Foster is First Minister, leaving Northern Ireland politics in a bit of a state of stagnation.
The DUP has now been catapulted into a position of national influence. This should infuriate Sinn Fein still further and so it is hard to see where the devolved administration can go from here. So Sinn Fein will now hate her guts for sure.
I think the DUP will soften up some of the harder Tory policies and they will both most probably get on fine. There won't be a 'hard border with the south' either. And surely to goodness to help sweeten the deal further, Northern Ireland will also get some tasty 'civil engineering projects' too.
