How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

with prices like that you will, find that over time the market is very efficient and hence they are fairly priced. I dare say if scrip reads this he may be able to post some stats to back that up for me.

if you break it down slightly, short priced novice chasers are a more viable target to lay but invariably blanket theories like this dont work as the market will correct itself and price them correctly going forward

Just watching for now, AUS seem to be in command

yep aussies in control but looks a cracking wicket, 180 would be a par score to me, may well be value in laying Aussies if they get nearer 1.2

Cloudbase - 09 Jan 2006 09:21 - 7765 of 10502

Fundy... price didn't stay out long for Kallis wicket, which would suggest people already betting on AUS win a forgone conc.

wickets shouldnt change the price much - no chance they will be bowled out in their overs hence run rate more than wickets will determine price - also wicket brought in Ponting with Symonds in next!

Fundamentalist - 09 Jan 2006 09:24 - 7767 of 10502

bigger reaction to Ponting wicket

Cloudbase - 09 Jan 2006 09:30 - 7768 of 10502

Cloudbase - 09 Jan 2006 09:34 - 7769 of 10502

Fundamentalist - 09 Jan 2006 09:37 - 7770 of 10502

Cloudbase - 09 Jan 2006 09:41 - 7771 of 10502

Fundamentalist - 09 Jan 2006 09:43 - 7772 of 10502

spreads indicating 210 ish

Fundamentalist - 09 Jan 2006 09:49 - 7773 of 10502

SA in danger of a 6 run penalty for slow over rate

Cloudbase - 09 Jan 2006 10:00 - 7774 of 10502

Aus making a point in last over 2 6's lol

Fundamentalist - 09 Jan 2006 10:01 - 7775 of 10502

could have bought total 6s in the game at 9, i think the aussies got that many - would have been a nice free bet going into the second half :-)

Fundamentalist - 09 Jan 2006 10:20 - 7776 of 10502

small lay of the aussies at 1.05 - not expecting anything but you never know

Cloudbase - 09 Jan 2006 10:24 - 7777 of 10502

Was thinking along those lines order in at 1.03 only small
