THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Fred1new - that should include a lot of senior bankers that should be in prision as well, plus a long list of other corrupt individuals from all walks of life that act without decent morals.

Fred loves them all , except he doesn't , he drives through Calais at 100 mph to avoid anyone in so called need.

cynic - 09 Jun 2017 17:54 - 77615 of 81564

it will surprise many of you that a good proportion of our top consultants and surgeons etc are of asian extraction and the best theatre nurses are often from the philippines or south africa

Chris Carson - 09 Jun 2017 18:05 - 77616 of 81564

Fabulous cynic, no argument and welcome with open arms.

ECHR may have its place, but NOT when it comes to deporting extremists and the like, the classic case of course being abu hamza ..... i confess i give not a toss whether or not they will be tortured or executed if they are returned to their country of origin

i guess in a nutshell, we should listen to any argument put forward by ECHR but at the end of the day, it should be OUR judiciary that decides the plaintiff's fate

Fred1new - 09 Jun 2017 18:12 - 77618 of 81564

Clock,

Agreed.

But nothing a deal with Saudi won't sort out.

Just the prettiest!

i know i am, but i'm afraid you're too old to take as a lover :-)

Well, I've been thinking about it a fair bit and, with a DUP alliance, TM is actually in about the same sort of position now as she was before the Election.

Before she had a majority of 12.

I think there is one more result to come in but, excluding that, it's as follows:

Now:

Conservative 318
Democratic Unionist Party 10

Total 328

Labour 261
Scottish National Party 35
Liberal Democrat 12
Sinn Fein 7
Plaid Cymru 4
Green Party 1

Total 320

So with the DUP on board, she now has a majority of 8 as against 12 previously.

I think it will be an excellent match. For instance:

The DUP wants to end the supremacy of the EU’s highest court and argues that Britain should regain the freedom to make global trade deals, which would require leaving the EU’s single market — something Ms May also hopes to do.

There are a few differences but they should help the tories soften things up a fair bit, IMHO.

Here's a link to the DUP Manifesto

Is a majority of '8' enough? Hmmm? What do you think?

But..........along comes Kay burley to wreck things! Oh, oh!

Dil - 09 Jun 2017 18:52 - 77622 of 81564

This has to be the biggest waste of time election ever.

As you say exec we are near enough in the same position as before with the one big exception being Scottish independence which is now off the table for the foreseeable future.

So sad that Corbyn the clown will now be around for longer than anyone imagined.

cynic - 09 Jun 2017 18:52 - 77623 of 81564

remove SF as they refuse to take their seats

=============

it's the next election that will be very scary

ExecLine - 09 Jun 2017 19:12 - 77624 of 81564

Yes. It is sad.

And we will have to witness JC a bit 'up himself' and 'lording it' across the floor of the house when he comes back.

David10brook - 09 Jun 2017 19:18 - 77625 of 81564

I wager that when the dust settles we will still be lead by idiots(of any party)) who prefer going around in circles to walking the straight and honest line towards getting things right for the sake of the nation.

It's all rather ironic how our politicians, again of any party, seem to put self interest before national interest.

ExecLine - 09 Jun 2017 19:20 - 77626 of 81564

Oh, oh! Again!

Boris Johnson is now favorite to be the next Tory leader - and has already repeatedly refused to back Theresa May after her election nightmare.

The outspoken Foreign Secretary was asked if he believes Mrs May should be Prime Minister but would only say 'it's early days' after retaining his Uxbridge seat.

He also stayed silent when a reporter suggested that the Tory leader was 'fatally wounded' - and then appeared not to hear when another journalist asked him: 'Does your party need a new leader? Is it you?'

The knives are already out for the Tory leader after a dismal campaign, a series of policy blunders and a manifesto now branded the party's 'worst ever'.

IMHO, a 'Vote of no confidence in the PM' would not succeed if we do get a DUP/Tory alliance. If BJ were to try to bring one and it failed, then he would be 'out on his ear'.

Also, he has been seen to be a bit of a 'buffoon' during these last few months. If May were to go, I'm not sure we would want him to replace her.

TM is a bit 'wooden' but Boris can get himself into the most daft messes. So much so, that he has to be described as 'being a bit of a loose cannon'.

ExecLine - 09 Jun 2017 19:23 - 77627 of 81564

Just imagine BJ face to face with DT.

Q. Who is who?

A. Well, DT is the one with the weird blond hair.

David10brook - 09 Jun 2017 19:25 - 77628 of 81564

Hi Chris I have not been anywhere, I just saw the headline of this thread and thought it was relevant as that's exactly what I seem to be doing where I do make a post or two.

But then that said, nothing different as I have been talking to myself for years at home only the dog seems to listen and then it's only at supper time.

But it's still a great life and popping in here may be a good exercise, we shall see!

cynic - 09 Jun 2017 19:39 - 77629 of 81564

BJ + JC and you'ld have a clown on each side

Chris Carson - 09 Jun 2017 20:12 - 77630 of 81564

Hi David, great the more the merrier :0)
