The National Association of GIS-Centric Software (NAGCS) announced their formation today. NAGCS is an association of software ESRI Authorized Developers dedicated to providing enterprise GIS solutions while promoting the unique characteristics and benefits of GIS-centric software and applications. The association also promotes interoperability, open standards and shared access among related applications, distinguishing these applications and software systems from other approaches.

NAGCS certification is available to any software system that meets the criteria described by the association. Systems that meet these criteria are then authorized to carry the NAGCS Certification mark. The criteria include:

The GIS GeoDatabase is the feature database.
Non-redundant feature data storage.
Feature data model is fully user-definable and customizable without vendor support.
Non-proprietary feature data model format, including data names, fields, tables, relationships, and other data design elements.
Interoperable, providing maximum compatibility with any other GIS-centric application, including concurrent use of the feature geodatabase.
Feature data coordinate location and connectivity is inherent in the feature data model, enabling full utilization of the spatial analysis capabilities of the GIS, including linear referencing, events and other GIS functionality.
Feature data is created and maintained using the GIS tools for editing, including data error identification and correction methods.

The founding members of NAGCS recognize the unparalleled benefits of GIS-centric systems. All these firms are founded on that principal and are among the fastest growing companies in their sector, says Brian Haslam, President of Azteca Systems. In seeking a clear way to distinguish the unique benefits of GIS-centric applications, NAGCS establishes a defining set of criteria that affords us the opportunity to ensure systems meet the standard of what customers expect: no gimmicks and no tricks, but true GIS-centric solutions. Many companies out there claim they use the GIS. We want to set a clear definition of what it means to be GIS-centric.

More software companies are expected to join while an interim management team is in place to govern the association until it can be self-operational. The association will soon be announcing the appointment of a third party agent that will review and evaluate applicants for certification.

As ESRI are re-sellers of Cartesia's software it opens the door to many more customers.

This Board seems to have gone as dead as the share price!
I can understand the uncertainty until the EGM and details of the takeover are finalised, but I think that the drop in price is overdone and probably due to the weakness of the overall markets too.
Now shall I buy some more!

I see Tad have Eight vacancies to fill, 4 Cartesia and 4 ETI.
Looks like business is booming.

With all the recent contracts it is more likely to be ML's scenario.

do any1 have any idea when the whole software sector is gonna come out of this depression, apart from some small gains which have since disapeared id say the software sector is still in the the downtrend started at the turn of the millenium, i strongly believe when we come out of this you will see some big gains but do any1 know WHEN

I am still hoping that someone can find out what Tad sent out last week to institutions re an explanation for its recent "merger" deal.

Snappy - no, I meant that there were a no. of people who had heard that Tad would be "justifying" the takeover/merger via a note sent to brokers/institutions etc. I was just wondering whether this note had materialised.

Do you mean in addition to the circular that is currently being prepared ?

abp01 - It depends upon what you mean by "circular". If that refers to the information that all shareholders will be receiving then the answer to your question is yes, if not then the answer is no. Moreover, I believe that Tad management was acting quickly (an oxymoron?) to halt the price decline by issuing the futher justification/info last Tuesday. Perhaps they delayed and the circular you mention is the same thing that I had heard of. Apologies if I have inadvertently confused anybody.

As far as i know there has not beeen any private note or presentation to any
institutions or individuals.
We are all waiting for the details of the aquisition of Stream Tech, this will be forthcoming. I understand that the delay is due to a UK listed Co, aquiring a US Co.
We will soon see the light.
