lets see what entry and exit signals we can come up with using
gann

to see if we can predict profitable trades and concentrate on stop losses etc

jules,

here is the Real Time Dow (and others)

Ended day with 2 long positions at $5- 9283 and $5-9320 hopefully DOW is positive on opening tmorrow...9350 would be good be atreat again...

I think I will keep all indice trading at these leveles until I find some kind of method or strategy.

On CFD's have nevr done a shorting as yet..in my life...I hope the day I do that it is with good precision...

may try it tmorr on DOW if it reaches 9350...though one never knows...

Magician - 01 Oct 2003 14:58 - 89 of 126

Do you know how the Dow is calculated ? If so, I doubt you would bother trading it ... why don't you look at something like the S+P ? Either hedge funds are stupid or just know something you guys don't !

Regards,

M.

jules99 - 01 Oct 2003 15:28 - 90 of 126

if it makes u happy...

zarif - 01 Oct 2003 16:16 - 91 of 126

Dear Magician:
Many thanks your comment regarding the dow. Why Do you think that the dow is a"muppets" index and give us your reasons for not trading it. I find it quite good and volatile enough to trade compared to the likes of Ftse which is too docile for me.
Your suggestion of trading the SP500 - Okay give us your suggested entry and exit levels and what are its volatility and motility (momentum)?? I always thought s+p and Nasdaq trailed with the DJia.
Anyway we have an open mind to all trades and are in it to make money and have fun at the same time and "dont fall in love with any share or index".
Look forward to hearing from you.
Ps: are you Spreadbetting or Cfd Man.

Hi everybody,
Just closed the long from yesterday and taken out some shorts. I think shall fulfill both before the day is out as we had quite a down slide yesterday. Also this is the end of the 3rd qtr and beginning of the 4th qtr so be careful with your trades and watch the stoplosses etc. Generally if Sept was a good month then Oct seems to be a downer especialy in the opening weeks. So my personal scheme is Shorts will be the main operatives.

Zarif...Hi...been a hell of a day...

Been a good day today, closed 10conrts of my ftse long contracts which I mis calculated yesterday...at 4158...kept 5 pounds long from 4158...

DOW longs closed and gone short at 4359 at $10-P ($10 a point), have a feeling it may close around 4330 or drop back there or finish at 4380...any thoughts?

Still learning though...

where have you gone short from?

Jules99.

zarif - 01 Oct 2003 17:41 - 94 of 126

I Just closed a Long at 9360 - a 100pt gain at 15/pt. I have tagen a short from 9363 DEC DOW and now going to wait. I usually find that in the frequency of trades make more money in shorting than on longs. You are quite right what goes up must come down - unless it flies and sometimes the market does give us a kick in our egos.

jules remember bank as much money as you can and dont get greedy if you are happy with what you have in front of you take it and stay in cash as at the end of the day CASH IS KING.

best of luck in trading.

Jules I am mainly a SB man -can you give me an insight and a crash resume in cfds.
eg: How much money do you need to open ann account etc???

jules99 - 01 Oct 2003 18:38 - 95 of 126

ZARIF,

Just started on CFD a week ago, been doing a lot reserach into them..go to htpp://www.cmcplc.com/cfd/index.asp

for an insight... allows you to trade on margin...very high risk if you do not know how to money manage...or understand derivatives

My a/c is small, but is more than enough for my purposes...

As I write I think Dow just going Sideways at 9395-9405...Boring...!!!

Open positions now are DAX- long from 9325 - that was a mistake yesterday...Wont be trading DAX again...weird one...thankfully came up today,,,

FTSE long 5 pound-P from 4159...+10...will close out a/m...

DOW 2 shorts in place now...9359 - 9383 which I dont see a major problem...

Jules:
Re:CMC
If you are getting shoddy service then My opinion is dont wait amonth give them a kick in the Bullocks and get another company that can perform -it is stressful enough watching the trades instead of having to worry about if these idiots have got it right in the first place
