THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Stan - 21 Jun 2017 09:46 - 78047 of 81564

Morning Alf...how's the holiday today?

cynic - 21 Jun 2017 09:55 - 78048 of 81564

chuckle ..... at the office but cancelled gym today as feeling a bit weedy

Stan - 21 Jun 2017 10:00 - 78049 of 81564

To hot to do very much during the day but will be playing Badminton tonight I expect.

cynic - 21 Jun 2017 10:12 - 78050 of 81564

i'll prob go to the golf course for an hour or two just to relax a bit and clear the brain

Stan - 21 Jun 2017 10:21 - 78051 of 81564

Yes I do find exercise helps what ever the weather, especially outside providing the pollution level is acceptable.

cynic - 21 Jun 2017 10:23 - 78052 of 81564

gym is really good for destressing (releases endorphins), but couldn't face it today - pathetic!

Stan - 21 Jun 2017 10:28 - 78053 of 81564

Don't like playing sports indoors (Badminton excepted) because it's to stuffy and hot also more injuries occur then outside on the latest 3G Astro Turfs.

Ever tried an outdoor gym?

cynic - 21 Jun 2017 10:38 - 78054 of 81564

no ...... i work primarily with free weights - i was a KFC reject! - which aren't conducive to outdoor training .......
amazingly, your heart rate really goes up too though it's very different from stamina training as at least moderately required by my annual cycle trip

Stan - 21 Jun 2017 11:31 - 78055 of 81564

KFC reject..that's not the food (so called) outlet is it?

cynic - 21 Jun 2017 11:42 - 78056 of 81564

yup - i reckoned i was too scrawny even for them :-)

mentor - 21 Jun 2017 11:55 - 78057 of 81564

now almost an every day event .......

UPDATE: Moroccan Used Suitcase Filled With Nails For Brussels Blast - Wed, 21st Jun 2017 11:50

BRUSSELS (Alliance News) - A 36-year-old Moroccan national had a suitcase filled with nails and gas bottles in order to carry out a terrorist act at Brussels Central station, the federal prosecutor has said.

According to the authorities, at 8:44 pm local time the suspect caused a partial explosion and the suitcase caught fire inside the station.

The suspect then caught the attention of a soldier present at the scene, when he shouted "Allahu Akbar" (God is great) as he was running towards them.

The soldier opened fire and hit the suspect several times.

The suitcase is reported to have exploded for a second time, but nobody else was injured or killed.

The suspect's home has been searched, according to the prosecutor's office.

See? After the headmaster waved the big stick, the children are playing nicely. Although C is allegedly at the office, he clearly has his mind on other things.

Chris Carson - 21 Jun 2017 12:28 - 78059 of 81564

Where's Fred, ill? Nothing trivial I hope :0)

Queen's Speech:

Theresa May large climb down from earlier proposals

1- drops unpopular policy changes to schools, social care
2- will consult more intensively with business over Brexit
3 - drops proposed changes to corporate pay rules
4 - No sign of an end to the pensions 'triple lock'

cynic - 21 Jun 2017 13:02 - 78061 of 81564

a good anodyne speech then, giving corbyn and crew not too much to get their teeth into except for well-deserved sniping at the significant change of tack

Fred1new - 21 Jun 2017 13:06 - 78062 of 81564

I see T May and tories have reneged on tory principles in the Queen’s speech trying to stay in power.

Finding a conscience and recognising the needs of others.

A STRONG STABLE MAYBE government.

What is next? Backing out of Brexit or changing the name of any agreement to suit her purpose?

If it wasn’t so serious it would be a comedy act.

cynic - 21 Jun 2017 13:10 - 78063 of 81564

shambolic indeed
however, if a hard brexit was ever truly on the cards (i have my doubts) then it certainly won't be now

Stan - 21 Jun 2017 13:39 - 78064 of 81564

I see one of the Cons invisible men Hammond has been shaping up to be the stalking horse for the forthcoming Leadership/General Election.

Fred1new - 21 Jun 2017 13:40 - 78065 of 81564

I forgot.

Mother has spoken.

We must all be on good behaviour and respect our inherited elite.
