THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

FULL of SURPRISES

Python found lurking in bathroom toilet in Southend ( 1 hour ago)

A five-year-old boy was shocked to discover a python inside his toilet when he lifted up the lid.
He was "frantic" when he found it in the bathroom at home in Southend, Essex, his mother Laura Cowell said.

Specialists from pet shop Scales and Fangs came to the rescue, removing the harmless 3ft (91cm) baby royal python.

"It smelt of bleach and a bit toilet-y," Ethan Pinion from the store said. The snake "most likely came up the u-bend" and is expected to recover fully.....

What about that ...........

Sadiq Khan proposes council tax increases on unoccupied central London mansions
Iain Gilbert Sharecast | 04 Sep, 2017 16:09

London mayor Sadiq Khan requested Downing Street give London boroughs authority to raise council taxes on empty mansions in the capital's centre.

Khan commissioned a study to look into the extent of foreign ownership of residential properties in London in 2016, the findings of which showed that although the number of empty homes was low, it was concentrated in central areas.

City Hall announced on Monday that it believed ministers should allow boroughs the autonomy to up the levy on empty high-value homes above the current 50% rate, saying that "just one home left unoccupied is one too many".
While he did not suggest a new rate to the properties, he did say the charge should "make a difference.".............

How sad.....

At least 20 survivors and witnesses of the Grenfell Tower fire have attempted suicide, a support network has said.
Silence of Suicide founder Yvette Greenway told the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire programme the number was based on conversations with residents.
Campaign group Justice4Grenfell said those working with survivors had heard of 20 suicide attempts, but the BBC has been unable to verify the figure.
A network of support is available, Kensington and Chelsea Council said.
Deputy leader Kim Taylor-Smith said the council was "committed to supporting those affected by this tragedy".
He said support included proactive work within the community and schools, a 24-hour NHS helpline and emotional support services provided by local community groups along with the Samaritans.

'Alcohol dependency'

Ms Greenway said many residents were unable to get images of the burning tower "out of their minds".
"There is a lot of alcohol and drug dependency," she said. "People are feeling isolated."
Ms Greenway said there was little confidence in "council-led" mental health services.
"We've been told workers are going around putting leaflets under hotel doors and not actually speaking to people," she said.

E/L,

More like another scandal that the Council and or Government have failed to put the "relevant" help in place for people.. no surprise there then.

Haystack - 05 Sep 2017 17:40 - 78927 of 81564

More like a bunch of attention seekers trying to milk the situation.

Stan - 05 Sep 2017 19:15 - 78928 of 81564

You know nothing as usual H/S so get back under your stone.

The best way of dealing with the North-Korean threat is to destroy their next missile launch in flight.....what are they going to do if that happens ?...a limited response perhaps...if they do...you hit them harder.....this is a tough decision Trump has to make !....no way they are going to over do any response because they know they will be annihilated !....this is a very serious situation and punishing them is inevitable !....what ?..sending missiles over Japan....it makes me very angry !....

Stan - 05 Sep 2017 20:04 - 78930 of 81564

China are in charge of all this I shouldn't wonder so relax R/F.

Haystack - 05 Sep 2017 21:20 - 78931 of 81564

A lot of the people claiming stress over Grenfell were just witnesses. One being interviewed on the News has suffered from mental, drug and alcohol problems for years and now claims Grenfell has made him suicidal. I saw the fire on TV. Can I claim PTSD, treatment and compensation?

Stan - 05 Sep 2017 22:07 - 78932 of 81564

I expect you can claim anything in your narrow world.

The fact remains the Tory Council and or Tory government are responsible.

cynic - 06 Sep 2017 08:22 - 78933 of 81564

i have just been watching jacob rm being interviewed on the box ..... what a very clever man he is and an excellent and clear debater too ..... he's good to listen to and entertaining while being serious

Fred1new - 06 Sep 2017 08:35 - 78934 of 81564

Manuel,

You must have a ghoulish sense of humour!

cynic - 06 Sep 2017 08:39 - 78935 of 81564

not at all .... even you would probably have enjoyed listening to him

jimmy b - 06 Sep 2017 08:51 - 78936 of 81564

Stan you really are very thick.

Stan - 06 Sep 2017 09:03 - 78937 of 81564

The only thing that's thick around here JJ is between your ears as we know...among all your other defects that you have.

Haystack - 06 Sep 2017 09:39 - 78938 of 81564

At present, we don't know who is responsible for Grenfell. Unlikely to be government though. Council maybe.

Fred1new - 06 Sep 2017 09:40 - 78939 of 81564

Do Dumbo and Haze belong to the rightly named Nasty Party!

iturama - 06 Sep 2017 09:42 - 78940 of 81564

Now Stan control yourself. You lose the argument when, by reflex, you blame the "tories" for everything. What do you mean by "relevant" help?
The Grenfell Tower disaster was a wake-up call in many respects, most safety wise but also socially. There is no doubt also that it is being used for political points scoring by people advancing an agenda, not justice and an open non political investigation. It is not helped when the judge appointed to head the investigation is told that "you don't look like us".
