THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

No surprise here .........

South Korea Says Four More THAAD Launchers To Be Deployed At US Base - Wed, 6th Sep 2017 10:31

Four more THAAD anti-ballistic missile launchers will be installed this week at a US military base in South Korea, Yonhap news agency reported on Wednesday, citing South Korea's defence ministry.

The deployment would follow a spate of recent North Korean ballistic missile and nuclear tests, and increasingly heated rhetoric between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and US President Donald Trump.

The US Forces Korea will reportedly position the launchers at a new base in Seongju, some 300 kilometres south of Seoul, on Thursday.

THAAD is an acronym for Terminal High Altitude Area Defence, a US-designed anti-ballistic missile defence system.

You can Riggle all you like IT but in the end it still comes back to typical Right Wing Tory type mismanagement over the years.

If an authority employs "short term accountancy management" it will nearly always come back to haunt them.

iturama - 06 Sep 2017 11:37 - 78943 of 81564

I am not the wriggler Stanley. You need to do better than that. I'd prefer to wait for a full and impartial inquiry before passing judgement. With no punches pulled either way.

Fred1new - 06 Sep 2017 11:50 - 78944 of 81564

"impartial"?

Fred1new - 06 Sep 2017 11:50 - 78945 of 81564

,

Stan - 06 Sep 2017 11:53 - 78946 of 81564

Typical right wing excuse from you IT, justice delayed is justice denied as Nabarro said.

iturama - 06 Sep 2017 15:04 - 78947 of 81564

Nabarro? Fake news Stanley. That quote is attributed to Gladstone and means if legal redress is available it shouldn't be delayed. But we don't want kangaroo courts do we? It is normal for high profile cases to take time in order to take emotion out of the deliberations.

Stan - 06 Sep 2017 16:37 - 78948 of 81564

Nothing to do with or without emotion IT as you well know.

Justice delayed is justice denied as usual in order to cover up the culprits, in this particular case the Right Wing people who are really responsible for the Grenville Tower disaster.

Jacob Rees Mogg is a dinosaur. There's no place for idiots like him in modern society.

Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg says he is "completely opposed" to abortion, including in cases of rape or incest.

What's worse is that he believes in fairies. Oh dear!

"I am a Catholic and I take the teachings of the Catholic Church seriously," he said.

"Marriage is a sacrament and the decision of what is a sacrament lies with the Church not with Parliament."

"With same-sex marriage, that is something that people are doing for themselves," he said.

"With abortion, it is something that is done to the unborn child. That is different."
Traditional views

Asked whether his opposition applied in cases of pregnancies resulting from rape or incest, he replied: "I'm afraid so."

Fred1new - 06 Sep 2017 17:21 - 78950 of 81564

Should win him some votes!

jimmy b - 06 Sep 2017 17:29 - 78951 of 81564

Oh dear the twins have been at it again all day .

Chris Carson - 06 Sep 2017 17:30 - 78952 of 81564

Not a chance, any credibility he had is now history, what a plank!

Claret Dragon - 06 Sep 2017 18:01 - 78953 of 81564

650 planks in Parliament.

iturama - 06 Sep 2017 18:05 - 78954 of 81564

Not so. Quite a number on the opposition benches are plankton - passively floating, drifting, or somewhat motile organisms.

Hawaii Considers A "Universal Basic Income" As Robots Seen Stealing Jobs, There's Just One Catch...

Forget social security, medicaid and WIC, today's progressives have moved well beyond discussing such entitlement relics of the past and nowadays dedicate their efforts to the concept of a "Universal Basic Income" for all...call it the New 'New Deal'. You know, because having to work for that "car in every garage and chicken in every pot" is just considered cruel and unusual punishment by today's standards.

Of course, it should come as little surprise that the progressive state of Hawaii, which depends on easily automatable jobs tied to the tourism industry, is among the first to pursue a Universal Basic Income for its residents. And while the idea of passing out free money to everyone seems like a genius plan, if we understand it correctly, as CBS points out, there is just one catch...figuring out who will pay for it.

More lunacy here: http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-09-05/hawaii-considers-universal-basic-income-robots-seen-stealing-jobstheres-just-one-cat

ExecLine - 06 Sep 2017 19:15 - 78956 of 81564

Hmmm?

I was aware he was a Catholic but my support for JRM has now gone down massively. I wasn't aware of the strength of his rather outdated and somewhat silly religious views on abortion, particulary when rape or incest is relevant to the pregnancy concerned.

Fred1new - 06 Sep 2017 19:25 - 78957 of 81564

But he is a clear thinker.

MaxK - 06 Sep 2017 19:27 - 78958 of 81564

He adheres to the churches position, which is quite frankly stupid.

I don't agree with abortion on demand, getting rid of a kid is a bit more than discarding an old pair of trousers.

Rape and incest is another matter, it's hardly voluntary.

Fred1new - 06 Sep 2017 21:55 - 78959 of 81564

Max,

His strength of "belief" and "adherence" to its concepts seems to be as strong as your "disbelief" without the moral limiters of a religion.

MaxK - 06 Sep 2017 23:30 - 78960 of 81564

Well said Fred!

I can normally twig what you are going on about, but that last one baffles me.
