Uber loses its license to operate in London

Uber lost its private hire licence
Uber will not be issued a new private hire licence, Transport for London (TfL) has said.
TfL has concluded the ride-hailing app firm was not fit and proper to hold a private hire operator licence.

Uber's approach and conduct demonstrated a lack of corporate responsibility which could have potential public safety and security implications, it said.
Uber has 21 days to appeal, during which it can continue to operate.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said in a statement: "I fully support TfL's decision - it would be wrong if TfL continued to license Uber if there is any way that this could pose a threat to Londoners' safety and security."

Just looked at a letter that i received Friday from the NHS. On the back it had advice in Albanian, Arabic, Bengali,Chinese, Farsi, Gujarati, Hindi, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Somali, Turkish and Urdu. Make of that what you will.

Thanks to half a dozen loony nationalists we get all letters in English and Welsh off NHS , councils , utility firms , dvla etc. Even my TV license comes on two separate pages , one in English and one in Welsh.

What a bloody waste of money that law is.

'BRITS GO HOME!' 1000s take Majorca streets as anti-tourist protests sweep Europe

STREETS of Majorca were filled with 3,000 people protesting over mass tourism in a latest backlash in the British holiday hotspot.

Holidaymakers in the capital of Palma looked on as the angry crowd chanted "Without limits, there is no future" and "tourists go home".

Spokeswoman Margalida Ramis said the holiday island was being saturated by visitors at the expense of the environment, local jobs, housing for residents and general co-existence.

She said the islands' dependence on tourism was not a good thing from an economic point of view and was "precarious".

She said: "The Balearic Government must be more sensitive to finding alternatives."
