THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Corbyn, McDonnell and co. are being extremely hypocritical about off shore, tax-free investments, IMHO.

The Labour Party rents its London headquarters from a fund based in Jersey.

The rent is around £1m pa and so in paying it, the Labour Party is helping to fill the coffers of the off-shore trust fund which owns it, namely Schroder Property Managers.

John McDonnell, Shadow Chancellor, has his £14,000 pa pension investment managed in Guernsey. When McDonnell published his tax return and P60 he disclosed £14,421 in income from his Westminster City council pension. McDonnell’s pension investments are managed by the City of Westminster Pension Fund Committee.

In November 2014, the Committee invested £100 million with Longview, an active global equity manager. Longview Partners (Guernsey) Limited is licensed and regulated by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission”. The disclosure of this investment is mentioned in their annual report.

Perhaps the labour party is learning from the tricks of its masters.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

-=-=-=-=

I hear there might be a pretty loss today.

Hope they also pluck the feathers of Boris at the same time.

What a government and party.

The laughing stock of Europe.

Antonio Carluccio snuffs it http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-41920229

Antonio Carluccio suffered greatly from depression. I read how he attempted suicide a total of six times.

I like to watch him on TV doing his thing and I also like to eat in his restaurants which follow the essence of his very classy Italian cooking techniques and styles.

My favourite one is in Leicester and is across the road from the large indoor cinema with luxury seating. I book the cinema tickets and then go and have a meal. Then it's back over the road to watch the movie. Then back to Northampton on the M1 which takes about 40 minutes or so.

One of Carluccio's hobbies was foraging for funghi in the woods. He was a pretty good expert on funghi and has written an excellent book about them. He also used to whittle decorative 'thumb sticks' to help with the searching. He made them out of hazelnut and decorated the thin bark with a pen-knife to create quite elaborate patterns. You can see some of them in this picture:

I have eaten in two Carluccio's. Bath and Windsor. The first was by accident and I enjoyed and the second was by design, and I didn't. I prefer to sit outside on a warm evening because inside they are rather depressing. In my view. But there again any meal can be enjoyed with the right company, so maybe it was the company not the meal, and I'm sure Antonio would have been great company. RIP.

Pretty Bad all gone. No More.

Who is next?

MaxK - 08 Nov 2017 20:02 - 79467 of 81564

May-bot will be mixed up in this somewhere...what is a minister doing wondering around Israel without a minder or several?

The answer of course is they don't, and therefor the gov knew full well what she was up to.

Watch now for a remainer to be appointed in her place.

Fred1new - 08 Nov 2017 20:38 - 79468 of 81564

Hooray!!!!!!!!!

Fred1new - 08 Nov 2017 20:39 - 79469 of 81564

She wasn't there on private business?

Haystack - 08 Nov 2017 22:58 - 79470 of 81564

Carluccio sold the business in 2010 to a Dubai company and part of the deal was to continue to use his name.

Hays,

Is it true that Theresa has phoned the Jobcentre looking for a replacement for Pretty, or is she just placing an advert for a high paid short-term job?

Very dubious longterm job prospects!
