Dominion is an independent energy company dedicated to exploration for new oil and gas reserves in East and Central Africa.
The Group was founded in 2004 and the strategy is to become the leading independent upstream exploration company in this region.
DPL intend to achieve this objective by using their experienced management team, their firm contacts and partners in East and
Central Africa and their excellent understanding of the geology of the region.
DPL are continuing to build on their strong acreage position in Tanzania and the Albertine Rift Basin (Uganda and Democratic
Republic of Congo) by adding new exploration opportunities in other emerging petroleum provinces in East and Central Africa.
The company currently has 57,356 square kilometers (14.17 Million acres) under license in Tanzania, Uganda and the Democratic
Republic of Congo (net to Dominions interest 53,573 square kilometers or 13.24 Million acres).

DJ Dominion Petroleum Starts Uganda Drilling In Coming Mos

LONDON (Dow Jones)--Dominion Petroleum Ltd (DPL.LN), an independent oil and gas exploration company operating in East and Central Africa., said Tuesday that the coming months are likely to be particularly exciting for our shareholders as it commences its drilling programme in Uganda.

MAIN FACTS:

-Exploration Area 4B (EA4B) in Uganda is located in south-western Uganda in the Lake Edward segment of the Albertine Rift Basin.

-The adjacent segment of the Rift Basin - Lake Albert - has been the site of several major oil discoveries in the last three years including those of Kingfisher, Warthog and Buffalo-Giraffe.

-In November 2008, Dominion completed the acquisition of 371 kilometers of 2D seismic data onshore and 130 kilometers on Lake Edward.

- In EA4B, Dominion has to date identified four prospects and 11 leads.

-The prospects are adequately defined by the existing seismic and may be considered ready for drilling.

-The leads require the acquisition of further seismic.

-The restructuring of the existing loan notes will make it easier for us to raise additional funds going forwards, to ensure the potential is realized.

-As part of fund-raising strategy, it has also initiated a farm-out process of EA4B.

wizard- Have they got a partner yet for Uganda or is that going to be announced soon?

poo bear - 02 Dec 2009 14:38 - 15 of 141

LONDON -(Dow Jones)- Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) and Total SA (TOT) are in talks to enter Dominion Petroleum Ltd.'s (DPL.LN) acreage in Uganda, people familiar with the matter said this week, as the scramble for new African oil heats up.

Last week, Italy's Eni SpA (E) said it had agreed to buy stakes held by Heritage Oil PLC (HOIL.LN) in Uganda for $1.35 billion.

Subsequently, Heritage's partner Tullow Oil PLC (TLW.LN) said it may use its preemption rights to acquire Heritage's licenses. That would give Tullow 100% control of oil resources discovered in Uganda's Lake Albert region.

Dominion, which is registered in Bermuda but listed in London, owns 1.06 million acres of exploration prospects in Southern Uganda, making it the second-largest private oil acreage holder in the Eastern side of the Albertine Rift.

It also has rights on the other side of Lake Edward, in Congo, though the contracts have yet to be ratified.

Dominion mentions in a recent company presentation that independent auditors had in July of this year identified, through seismic and aerial surveys, 387 million barrels of oil of prospective resources in Uganda and a further 782 million barrels of potential upside.

Tullow, whose assets are located north of Dominion's blocks in Lake Albert, plans to sell part of its stakes in three Lake Albert license blocks to a company that can help fund development of the resources. Total of France and U.S. oil giant ExxonMobil are among 13 companies that have visited Tullow's data room, said one of the people.

Tullow expects to announce which company it will choose as a partner for its Ugandan oil fields in the first quarter next year.

Total and ExxonMobil are "looking at further upside in the area" by potentially acquiring a stake in Dominion, one person said. Eni has also approached Dominion, though the contacts are no longer ongoing, the person added.

The company Tullow picks as its new partner is likely to want to expand its acreage position within Uganda, said the other person.

Eni, Total, Dominion and ExxonMobil declined to comment on the talks.

However, a Dominion spokesman reiterated a company statement that said, it "has initiated a farm-out process... We have been encouraged by the strong interest shown from quality companies keen to join Dominion in the next phase of its growth."

DPL might make an interesting play due to its proximity to TLW's proven field, but it's an out and out gamble

Proselenes - 30 May 2010 14:38 - 21 of 141

Sometimes a gamble pays off..... they are fully funded for their planned drills so I think its very worth a go.

Could easily double before drilling is complete.

markymar - 30 May 2010 15:49 - 22 of 141

I am fully loaded up on these Cynic, the secret is to buy in before the rush!!!!

Its the seismic which is been carried out on other blocks which is of interest and you dont carry out 3D if the 2D is poor. They should be drilling within the next month and that maybe an added bonus if they hit oil but I can see other partners joining up on other blocks.

markymar - 30 May 2010 16:04 - 23 of 141

Following its $50m fund-raising, Dominion has announced it has secured a rig to drill Block EA4B in Uganda. The rig is expected to mobilise in May and will target 100mmbo with drilling scheduled to begin in June.

Dominion also reported that its 3D seismic programme deep water Block 7, Tanzania, will begin in June, while onshore Tanzania preparations for drilling the Kianika-1 (WI: 10%) well was progressing to plan, with drilling also expected to start in June.

Also East sub-Saharan Africa has recently become an area of great interest for the oil companies, large and small.

It is lightly explored and Tullow's success in Lake Victoria, in a neighbouring concession, now justifies a gas pipeline; this would greatly support any discovery Dominion may make.

More recently, Anadarko announced success with its exploration in Mozambique

cynic - 30 May 2010 16:22 - 24 of 141

marky, you're like an incurable rash!

required field - 31 May 2010 11:39 - 25 of 141

I've taken a punt on this.....but it is a punt.....the sp will be slaughtered if a dry well is the result.....so many of these explorers are drilling now....job to cover them all.....perhaps this will do better than Tower Resources...
