As of now thought the top kill has failed and BP is now talking about using a lower marine riser package cap BP Top Kill Fails

My very unscientific interpretation of what is going on is that BP is doing something just for the sake of doing something, but that the real solution will not be until August when or if they get the relief well finished. I would add that T Boone Pickens said something similar last week, before the top kill failed
