Proteome Sciences. On the verge of something big? (PRM)

exon - 28 May 2003 21:15

After years of promise, PRM seems to be on the verge of a breakthrough into the big league. Deals have been signed in the last six months which will commercialise their stroke and bse tests into markets worth hundreds of million pounds and Sensitizer, their protein profiling toolkit, is tipped to be snapped up for big money royalties. Their 30% of Intronn Inc could be pure gold and their 60%+ of Veri-q has been described as a potential cash cow. And that's just for starters.

Hi hangon.
I'm in at 68p and have been for some time now but nothing compared to long time holders. I missed the recent spike at just around break even but even then I would have no doubt found I couldn't sell them all in one go or the system was down. I find with the likes of Halifax on-line dealing that the system doesn't generally let you do what you want when you want especially when the sp is moving or fluctuating quickly. I know it's not all down to them but I am suspicous of the whole set-up.
I too would like to see double and it's possible from what I have read but the days of believing much of what is said or predicted has long since vanished. Hoping for a profit or break even shortly though with the recent excitement and expectation. Good luck at your higher average, sneaking closer though !
Obe

Here we are in 2007 and still waiting for the good news, Ch.Exec's loan is almost all spent, so I hear and there is another round of loan but curiously this time supported by the IP - so it is possible there could be a debt-for-equity swap...ie buy the Co. on the cheap, from under the noses of the long-term shareholders.....tut tut, that was never their intention - was it?
However, 2-years ago we were assured that a Deal was just round the corner and that the whole World was excited by PRM's IP - well, I don't see it and suspect when the blindfold comes off the execs, they will be forced to recognise no-one want their stuff - the technology has moved-on at a slow pace....but a lot faster than PRM's Execs who have been faffing about (can I say that?), far too long.
Do they fear asking their customers for money? Oh! I forgot...they still don't have any customers, only shareholders.
Cull the Lot and get some commercial-types in; strip out all the hangers-on and let's see what's left...if PRM has any value, then let's exploit it. Otherwise let someone else keep you - mowing the grass at a golf club should be a worthy task, not too far from their capabilities....pleasant enough for 6 months each year.

So with debt mounting and no sales what is this sp telling us? - - - anyone?

survived87 - 27 Jul 2007 16:50 - 10 of 42

Well, 'exon' (if you're still around), then if PRM was "On the verge of something big?" on 28 May 2003 - then looks after todays AGM that it's almost there?

survived87 - 30 Jul 2007 07:44 - 11 of 42

todays news release is entitled 'Allowance of US Patent on Isobaric Tandem Mass Tags (TMT) Allowance of European Patent (TMT2)'

So, even if it's not the 'last piece' in the jigsaw, it's the one that ensures all the pieces are on the table ready for fitting....

hangon - 05 Sep 2007 19:58 - 12 of 42

You may be right, but funny thing is they've been telling us about their IP for years and I'm getting tired of it.......it's one thing to have great protection (provided you have the finances to back it up, if a challenger pops up)....and quite another thing to get someone to pay good money to use it.
It may be very clever, it may be ever-so well protected, but if it has no use ( -or- that's the perception.), ...then no-one will buy from you.
[[ - it's a bit like having a new-fanged fruit...say, a cross between apples and pears - First find out if the Public has a taste for it - or does it make a good drink etc. only then is it worth funding further research into other ugly fruits..]]

No, I suspect this is the same posturing of PRM-( that we have witnessed for years) - if it was coming good, the City would be buying like there was a gold-rush.
sp down again today, hence my comments.....oh dear, and I had high hopes at over 1....

survived87 - 21 Sep 2007 10:52 - 13 of 42

'hangon'.... agreed it's failed to live up to previous promises .... but it might finally be coming together ...... patents allowed ...... and now today news of Intronn tie-up...

I assume most city folk would only consider buying once more of the pieces are in place given the risk / reward ratio (with their City jobs).....

time will tell....

Toya - 11 Oct 2007 18:27 - 14 of 42

The shares went up today from 1pm for no obvious (i.e. published) reason. They closed at 41.25-41.50 which was 9.21% up on the day.

It's possible they are about to announce their first commercial contract for their tandem mass tags - otherwise why the rise?

I've lost money on this one before - as you say: lots of promises - but perhaps they are finally moving forward??

survived87 - 26 Oct 2007 17:18 - 15 of 42

well, a nice spurt up this afternoon from PRM..... will await next week with interest.....another piece of 'jigsaw' finally coming.... ?

Toya - 26 Oct 2007 20:42 - 16 of 42

I wasn't around today to keep an eye on this, so I missed it. But clearly something must be up for the sp to keep heading upwards.

In the RNS of 30 July they mentioned that: "The latest patent
grants should now enable us to complete commercialisation of TMT through
outlicensing and to generate strong revenue through licence income, product
sales and royalties."

Guess they're finally getting there.

survived87 - 26 Oct 2007 21:02 - 17 of 42

From what I've seen on another site, then final published confirmation is due to be posted from US Patent Office in just over a couple of weeks time. Timescale of final publication is governed by the pre-set Patent Office procedures / timelines. Guess if gains in PRM SP rise continue then they'll be helped along by some closing their 'shorts' on it. Let's see if Evil K gets burned...... (Hope so). The next few months might decide it one way or t'other.

MrDarcey - 27 Oct 2007 10:05 - 18 of 42

"The next few months", we will see news in the next couple of weeks.

survived87 - 28 Oct 2007 13:33 - 19 of 42

Well, even got a mention in the Telegraph today....

Another piece in the jigsaw....

13/11/2007 @ 18:15
Proteome Sciences granted US patent for isobaric tandem mass tags

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Proteome Sciences PLC said it has been granted
a US patent for its isobaric tandem mass tags, reagents used in protein
experiments.
The company, which makes machines that detect proteins in diseases, said the
patent contains broad claims to sets of isobaric mass tags.
The patent issuance will enable Proteome Sciences to complete
commercialisation and outlicensing of isobaric tandem mass tags and to generate
strong revenue through licence income, product sales and royalties.

Without seeming to be rude
(oh well here goes:-)

- Does anyone care anymore.?

I could exist easily not hearing another word from PRM's management - that is until they send me a nice dividend.

It's an easy process...
1) You have a hunch of an invention and patent it
2) find someone to finance it
3) make some
4) you sell 'em
5) make some more, using the profit ( from 3/4 )
6) repeat 3,4,5 and return some of the initial finance to investors
7) end of year accounts show "surplus" - send investors a dividend.

Crikey, it really is easy - and each two-steps should only take 1-year ( as some may be done in paprallel). . .

. yet what do we get from PRM ..?

Endless delays and promises of "round the corner" -variety.
By the time they get round to it, the dollar will be even lower . . . it doesn't look good, does it?
(I'll stop now)

- Does anyone care anymore.?

I guess it all depends on your perspective .... If you were a holder who bought sometime ago when in triple figures and have unloaded since .... then probably not.

Alternatively if your a recent holder perspective is different. If fundamentals represented the SP of stocks then there are quite a few stocks that wouldn't be worth what SP is.... !!! As usual 'time will tell'..... In the mean time it's a good trading stock if you get direction changes mostly right

hangon - 30 Nov 2007 12:31 - 23 of 42

Can't argue with that, of course it depends (partially) on yr buy-price ( mine is into 3-figures, but sold most), however, if a company is a stinker then it matters not 'when' you buy....only how long you hold, for I lost about 30%, but so have others who bought on recent good news.

The fact is this has been smouldering for years and now the big cheese has his claws into the finances and I don't like their "forever" promises of product...
Look at early hopes for a BSE product - here, in UK, we've moved on from BSE...we've suffered...Mad Cow and... (now) Blue-Tongue - will there be any cattle for their BSE-test?
Arrgh! Down today.

survived87 - 30 Nov 2007 14:17 - 24 of 42

Yeep, agreed that the longer term holders must be pretty peeved to say the least .... present fall due to no news yet concerning licencing deals after they've got patents confirmed. Could go in a big direction ..... one way or other !!!

blueface - 29 Jan 2008 20:30 - 25 of 42

I have bght PRM today- paid 53.50p- my city sources say that some BIG news will drive the shares much higher very soon!not sure what the news will be but I have taken a punt!

survived87 - 29 Jan 2008 20:57 - 26 of 42

Well, as I said two months ago on this thread:
"Could go in a big direction ..... one way or other !!! "

So, blueface, nice to know that you've heard rumours that it'll be up.....

britshare - 30 Jan 2008 12:19 - 27 of 42

Blueface, could you tell us more about the news forthcoming please.
