Dividends

JohnS - 18 Aug 2003 13:31

Would anyone be so kind as to inform of suitables websites / information sources as to where present and future company dividend information can be found - payment dates of interim and final dividends for UK companies. It would help trading if we knew in advance ex dividend dates, immediately after which share price often falls.
Also it could be useful to know a dividend date of a traded stock so, if considering disposing of a stock, it may be worthwhile holding on to collect the dividend prior to disposal (providing the price doesn't fall in the meantime of course).
Also how long is it necessary to hold a stock in order to collect the dividend payment? Would it be possible, for example, to only hold it for a day before collecting the dividend payment or is it usually necessary to hold the stock for a longer period in order to become eligible for dividends?
Finally, if a stockbroker collects the dividend on my behalf, how long does it normally take from the dividend date for the money to be paid into and credited to my account? Any advice on this subject would be appreciated.

I was going to send you an e-mail, but you've not updated your user settings so I can't as I was going to ask if you have Broadband?

I use excel, which I also use a work a lot. You can insert worksheets & other info into the itpaysdividends file once you understand how to use excel. I think learndirect do free courses.

SCTN is set at a buy price of 3.65 as I had hoped it would drop back to that price, before going back up!

Hi little woman

I dont know anything about updating user settings on Money AM - should I do something here? In answer to your question I do have Broadband.

SCTN has started a nice little trend away from your 365 since it fell to a low of 359.5 on 13 August - it'a shame your order wasn't in then.

JohnS,

With regard to user settings - little woman was refering to our E mail service on MoneyAM - if you click on user setting whilst on the investors room, you can enter your E mail in the designated box. This will allow people to send you E mails but they will never have your E mail address.

If you wish to reply to them yuo would simply click on their name on the investors room and click on message and off you go.

Hope this helps

Ian

With regard to information about share's Dividened, dates, and ex-dates. Try this site, it is free. does not need registration and is regularly updated. It is not as exhaustive as the site recommended by 'little womon' and does not need 'excel'.http://www.investorease.com
Kind regards,
