Protherics. Better than the average? (PTI)

rayrac - 27 Nov 2003 11:23

Can't find a thread for PTI and as I am a very keen investor in the company, I thought it appropriate to get things 'rolling'.

It is a small, relatively speaking, biotech, with extremely interesting products. It also has three of those products 'on the market'. Sole products at that, with no competition! One is 'CroFab' for rattlesnake bite, another is DigiFab for Digoxin overdose and the other ViperaTab for yes, viper bites. All bringing income into the group, ie, funding not needed!

But my main interest is in the Angiotensin vaccine for high blood pressure and the other, Voraxaze, a product acquired when they took over a company called Enact. This product has a very large market as it treats methotrexate toxicity in cancer patients receiving the drug called Methotrexate, which has nasty side effects, but if they can be alleviated then it is very potent! This is where Voraxase comes to the fore, it prevents to a great degree the side effects of Methotrexate and therefore patients can be given much higher dosage!

Oh I forgot their BSE testing product which is sold through a company called Enfer, I don't get too excited with this one, but it does make a profit!

The shares having been scaling a higher level recently, deservedly so in my opinion. Results are due soon. Keep an eye on it, it should eventually be very much worth it!

Oh well, that's it is it? Away for two days and not a mention! In fact 10 days and not a mention!!

Perhaps some are just silent investors, feeding off over-excited people like me?

OR perhaps this site has a problem, ie, not enough contributors? Anyway, there's not much point paying for it! I shall be out at the end of the 12 mths.

Personally I prefer to post on the traders thread (yes thread, not room) about the days exciting news & companies (but not many seem interested) so threads just disappearrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

apple - 16 Dec 2003 20:22 - 11 of 27

This has been an excellent investment.

Think it may be time to sell, does anybody think there is anymore upside?

aevansdj - 25 Dec 2003 19:53 - 12 of 27

In reply to apple totally agree about it being a good investment.I think there's a lot more upside on this.Unfortunate as it is the fact the first case of B.S.E has been found in the U.S. can only good for the B.S.E. testing product.
Also I believe the hypertension product has such potential worldwide as long as everything goes to plan.
Finally the fact the brokers/traders and tipsters haven't really started raving about the firm even though it's trebled in value in a short space of time can only be good for us who already have a finger in the pie so to speak.
Lets hope it's sucess continues and the big stockbroker firm start bulling it up to push up the price

CAT - 26 Dec 2003 16:07 - 13 of 27

2004 could be an special time for PTI. Recent breakout is impressive....this alongside exciting fundementals

rayrac - 27 Dec 2003 10:38 - 14 of 27

Funny how things can change overnight? I said I wasn't too excited by their BSE test, now !!!!!?

I found the comment below, elsewhere.........

"Managing Director Michael O'Connor said that to date the Enfer test has never had a false positive or a false negative.

In addition to carrying out the tests, Enfer Scientific also sends out kits for carrying out on-the-spot tests anywhere in the world.

The company has teamed up with Abbott Laboratories to distribute the Enfer technology worldwide."

Chestnuts92 - 27 Dec 2003 12:47 - 15 of 27

The chart for PTI looks brill it is just coming out of a C+H and should hope fully reach 80p.

roma - 15 Jan 2004 10:37 - 20 of 27

Biopharmaceuticals group Protherics plc,has confirmed it expects its royalties to be boosted by BSE scare in U.S.
It licensed the technology to Enfer Scientific, who in turn agreed that US giant Abbot Laborories, can market and distribute worldwide.
Abbot have been given permission to test market in the states.
There are no rapid BSE tests commerecially avalible in the US.

roma - 15 Jan 2004 10:56 - 21 of 27

Up 3.25p.looking good.

roma - 15 Jan 2004 12:06 - 22 of 27

Up 4.50p.looking better.

aevansdj - 15 Jan 2004 13:21 - 23 of 27

Things definately looking good.Lets hope the research for the cancer and high blood pressure products go to plan, if this happens one of the major players in the market will probably start to hover around the company. The big companies now don't have as many products in the pipeline and may look to invest in smaller firms and then bid for them.
It would be interesting if Protherics falls into this catergory and unbeknow to us plans may be a foot!
The pluses definately overshadow any minuses.

roma - 15 Jan 2004 13:36 - 24 of 27

aevansdj,i agree with you,would be nice,now up 4.75p.

aevansdj - 17 Jan 2004 00:43 - 25 of 27

Been on the Buisiness Week Site

I found an article on there about the B.S.E. case found in the U.S.
It said only 20,000 of the 35,000,000 animals slaughtered in 2003 were tested for B.S.E by the U.S.D.A.
Abbott Labs which market the test made by Enfer have sold 2,000,000 tests since 2001.They cost $10-$13 per animal. It could be a good money spinner, if the U.S.D.A decide sticter testing, like other countries in the World, such as the U.K. and Japan is required.
Hopefully Abbotts Labs will get the approval to market the product.Although there are other firms in the frame.
