questy .. we were unlucky in one sense..but on the face of it suppose we are out of sorts at the moment..we were never going to win the damn competition this year anyway....not with the current squad ..too many bit-time players brought for my liking ... in a way i know there are the financial consequence of the early exit..now that i have got over it.. i think it is probably just the sort of result the club needs to get it's act in order ..
to stop thinking of itself as a business and start concentrating on the football pitch .. i mean spending some of its profits on getting real world class players who would b worthy of being watched by loyal 67k fans week in week out .. why arent't players like zidane .. ronaldinho( not bought due to unwillingness to pay etra million or so) .. henry .. inzagi ..stankovic etc not being considered as targets .. i use these names as examples .. i know some may b too old now (zidane although still the best) others out of reach (Henry) but for goodness sake this is supposed to be the wealthist club in the world..
look at real madrid ..in lot of debt ..what do they do ..cost cutting ..heck no ..they go and buy Beckham( remember him) ..who in turn has repaid his transfer twice over already with the shirt sales..
questy like i said the other day ..our best hope is FA Cup ..but after the draw not so sure now.. being realistic ..time for all at the club to ponder and reflect and get the club in order and start investing in proper players ..instead of ( with respect) the likes of forlan ..djemba ..kleberson etc..
I respect fergie for waht he has done.. i vll respect him even more ..if he has a bIt of wholesale during the summer and get rid of ..like keane said .. the one's who have taken it for granted to wear the RED shirt ..
football is a cruel game ..fans pay hard earned cash to fill the pockets of footballers ..so lets start looking at the squad and critical ask whether the likes of Neville brothers ..wes brown ... nicky butt .. john o'shea ..plus the few named earlier are sort of players who will enable us to win the Holy Grail ..ans is they have been great servants ..but the time has come for them to move on ..
So the first target would be ... Patrick Viera ..said he would consider joining Real Mad or Man Utd .. so it's up to UTD in the summer to make an offer that arsenal and viera cannot refuse.. chealse have shown how is done if the want and money is there ...so lets do it..
PS GOOD LUCK to arsenal ..chelsea in the champions league the competition is there for the taking.. Juve ..Man UTD already out ..Real vll sruggle tomorrow w/o Carlos ..Ronaldo and Raul..
anyway questy ..look on the bright side..u still have CHR !!

I live in Spain and see Real Madrid all the time on t.v.The standard is so
high- Ronaldo in my opinion is such a genius that I think he is the best player
ever to the extent Pele was useless - that Watching M.U.is like watching a
kickaround by amateurs in the local park.M.U.will never be a player on the
world stage unless it can get:-Ronaldo,Zidane,Roberto Carlos - an exceptionally
gifted but much underrated player. The general opinion is that Raul
is outstanding. However,I think he is greatly overrated.Incidentally,Beckams
form is ALWAYS outstanding and a huge asset as a player to Real.

ajren likes to cause problems whereever and watever he posts, noted he was
causing some grief on another share post, just ignore his comments obviously nothing better to do with his life, ajren why dont u do some research before posting these daft comments, like the previous poster said "Ronaldo in my opinion is such a genius that I think he is the player ever to the extent Pele was useless"........... what a joke you are by making that statement. You know nothing about football.....

I can't understand why Fergie didn't play Kleberson. He is a Brazilian international and he leaves him on the bench.

Cause grief on other posts. You should have said --- gives opinions that no one
wants to hear.I suggest posters read my posts last week on Planestation about
management, price, etc.Since then Oliver Inny has been fired and the price is LESS than BEFORE the Mezzanine debt was paid off e.g.I - stupidly bought at 5.63 p.I have posted virtually every day for months.I request YOU/ANYONE to find even ONE SHARE I was more than VERY slightly wrong - apart from Corus
and even then I made 8,500.
How many times have you seen Ronaldo play ??????????????? Perhaps, you, like I, live in Spain.
gallick :- I agree about Kleberson.

Fergie should have bowed out a couple of years ago, the man's ego has become bigger than the football club. Selling Beckham was a serious error of misjudgement. Fergie, like Iny at PlaneStation, one man maketh not a mountain. ajren, I haven't noticed your posts on the PlaneStation threads recently -"every day for months"? If you bought PTG at 5.63p, and the takeover offer at the very least is 10p, then you made a good buy. What's the problem?

I posted nearly ALL last week on Planestation and nearly everything I said
was correct e.g.the management were TERRIBLE-SINCE then Oliver Inny has been
sacked.
Some confusion - perhaps I worded it incorrectly.I intended the post to read
:-I have posted on numerous treads for months. The problem,as I see it-is that
posters do not like their shares been criticised and thus make PSONAL attacks
on me/my judgement.I - again - ask ALL posters to find ONE share I have been
wrong about e.g.I virtually had to leave the IDD and CMS threads. The bottom line
is that if ALL posters had dealth as my posts they would have made a substantial
amount of money.I will probably get another load of PERSONAL abuse for this
statement. However, before anyone writes I request they READ my posts since I
came on the site.I will apologize if ANYONE finds more than ONE share I was
more than slightly wrong about - apart from Corus and even then I made 8.500 euros.

Ajren do you work in the financial industry? You do make some relevant and informed comments but it is the grammer and the aggressive nature of your posts that winds people up, it should read as informative posts not personal information.

Hi AdieH,
BEFORE you criticise MY English :- grammAr is correct - not YOUR GrammEr.
Do you think --- winds people up is good English ?
Do you think --- IT should read as informative posts is good English.
My posts are usually written VERY quickly so I have NO regard for my English.
Does moneyam have a rule that they should be informative posts but NOT personal
information ?I suggest you read my IDD posts. My posts have only ONE aim i.e.
to help posters make MONEY and hopefully posters help me make MONEY.In this
regard NUMEROUS posters help ME make money e.g.my under .38p shares.I am not
here to receive Mr Personality of the year.Aggressive nature of my posts ?
Many of them are.So what?Have I EVER criticised a person personally:BEFORE I
was personalised criticised ?
Many of the posts on these treads were/are nonsensical e.g.forecasting
RIDICULOUS price targets.I have a Type A - hard driving - personality so it is
very difficult for me to consider them in any way other than what they are -RUBBISH.
Do I work in the financial industry ? How does one define the financial
industry ?
I repeat my above post- Especially :Ask ALL posters to find more than ONE share
I have been more than slightly wrong about.............etc

AdieH .. I have noted ur comments and take them on board..
Gallick .. i take it u r a Gunner .. about two months ago someone asked me who would i prefer to win championship , if it is not going to be Utd ..Options were Chelsea or Arsenal .. my reply was arsenal ..b'cause i said as soon as Chelsea win their first title they too would then arrive on the stage and quite possibly take over as the team to beat in UK .. long term i see them more of threat to Utd then Arsenal .. reasons being arsenal r going top guns at the moment and have the best team .. but they will have to be a bit tight fisted here on in order to build the new stadium etc..
Reluctantly i admire what Wenger has done there ..i think this could b the season for Arsenal to go all the way in Europe ... i believe under current form they can beat anyone at the moment.. the test is if they can keep their composure this season ..
Re Viera ... i see ur point of view .. but it is time now for UTD to be audacious .. like Madrid were in signing the likes of Zidane , Beckham, Figo ( from Barca) .. then it is time for UTD to start doing the same and get some respect back ... this is the only way we'll b a force to be reckoned with in Europe.. I also believe Madrid will make a strong bid for Henry in Summer .. although out of Viera and Him .. Henry seems to be the more loyal of the two..
but then again there is no such thing as loyalty in Football, apart from the fans

arjen,
Thanks for your response, I was just trying to point out why people are so negative towards you. If you were less aggressive in your postings you may find people more receptive to your comments.
Anyway I am also an arsenal fan, since the days of Brian Talbot, Pat Rice etc etc so it is good to see us playing some rather attractive football, we aint won anything yet but we have the chance of winning three trophies, lets keep the fingers crossed.

i cant believe you lot .the next team to meet porto will knock them out . they are not a good side . football , (cliche , i know) is about taking chances when they come . united didnt . end of story . this season , i think , will be trophyless.good!!!!!
it always seems to do us good when we dont win . it angers fergie who takes it out on the players, who respond by making sure they at least win the league.people seem to have forgotten that beckham was an intergral part of the team that was complacent as hell two seasons ago when arsenal won the league . i dont think united have missed him too much . fergie has brought in young players, quality players , he has excellent squad players as back up .a defender or two wouldnt go amiss for next season when rio will also be back . we have missed rio . check out the results since his suspension .as for the current players , they are united through and through and that team spirit has seen them through worse times than this .when you think that this season alone he has played , howard , o shea , djemba djemba, kleberson, fletcher, ronaldo, bellion .........well its almost a new team . these things take time . remeber all those who rave about henry and berkamp, they took time to settle in before they shone, infact i seem to remember a lot of people saying they were failures. this season is settling in time . next season , with some new additions , should see united back on top .

as there is not much to talk about shares at the moment , suppose we can take a light moment and continue the disscusion on this topic.
bosly.. u make some good observations .. but like with everthing in life u have to be able to compete with ur competitors .. for my own point of view , i feel united have not done that this season when they have the resources to do so ..
all the players u mentioned, i agree are good future investments for UTD and i applaud that future prospective..
however if u look at our midfield we lack the creativeness, we are relying too much on Scholes at the moment .. the other plyers vll take time to come through.. last year i feel it was the case of arsenal losing the league as appose to us winning it !!
However since the introduction of the Champions league ..four qualify ..apart from prestige it doesn't really matter that much as long as u finish in top 4 and qualify for the champions league .. for the stature of Man Utd we are not setting our targets high enough .. i compare with Madrid again .. if their manager wins the domectic league and the domestic cup ..but the teams falters in the Champions League then inevitably he will get the sack .. i'm not for minute advocating that fergie gets the sack.. all i am saying is that 5/6 new unproven players are too many for one season .. lets mix it 1/2 established world class players to replace the one's who are sold ( beckham ..Veron .. did have the odd good game )then trying to bring 1/2 younger players through( ronaldo ..fletcher etc ) ..from the pool mentioned above
what we now need to in the summer is to strengthen our defense so we are not depending on one defender alone .. and we need an quality inventine player to come into our midfield .. not too many of them to the pound .. after all there is only one Zidane .. however others in this bracket Stankovic ( Lazio) ..Ronaldinho was tailor made for UTD ..what a miss ..
That's my view ..it probably does mean anything to overall scheme of things .. what the eck i got it off my chest at least !!

I am a seasoned armchair follower of footie and although not a Man U supporter have always enjoyed watching them play and I suppose a team I would actually pay to go and watch. I used to go to my home club games every weekend, but unfortunately no longer have the time, hence the worn out armchair! Either way I don't have an axe to grind. Without doubt Utd had a great team, the youth side of Scholes, Beckham, Butt the Nevilles, throw in Giggs, Keane, Cantona, (and I've missed loads of names), established the tradition of winning trophies. They expected to win, the supporters expected them to win and probably more important, the teams they were playing probably expected them to win as well! I am afraid to say that that aura of invincibility has gone and personally I don't see it coming back. All teams have cycles of success, Liverpool an ideal example, but there is always a new top dog eventually. It would appear to be Arsenal's turn now, I wouldn't be surprised to seem them do the treble. Bottom line is the loss of Beckham, what a crazy piece of business that was, probably the worst mistake of Fergies career and when you consider Veron that is quite a mistake. The loss of Rio F, how stupid was that forgetfulness? And probably a long list of injuries that have accelerated the decline. I am sorry to next season is unlikely to be any different. If the current squad was a share I would sell now.
Hope you win the FA Cup, but can't see you beating Arsenal.

ptholden .. be-grudgingly .. i share ur sentiments to an extent .. agree the aura of invincibility has fallen off .. but believe all is not lost..
agree that at moment arsenal are way ahead of others ..and well capable of the treble .. the only issue with them is if they get injury to Henry then they r not the same team . so they need luck in that regard ..
i don't think all's lost with United.. like i said they r two quality players short of being world class again.. suppose all the young guns from this season vll be better for the experiences next.. but i don't like them to be carrying the burden of expectations in key games.
for Utd the cup semi vll b a massive game and no doubt they vll b up for it..as no doubt vll b arsenal, the tables have turned a bit as at this time of season ..it used to be united who would sacrifice the FA Cup in pursuit of Europe .. so it vll be intresting to see what selection policy Wengers adopt close to the Quater Finals of the Champions league .. on current form he'll have to rest Henry, for us to have a fighting chance .. i say this with a strong heart.. One thing is that favours United is that time after time people sort of written them off, but they have come back (domestically) to prove their critic's wrong ! but i think the current Arsenal team have learnt from the bitter disappointment of losing out last year .. so can't see them making the same mistakes again..
but .. in view of their 'weak' squad .. i think they vll have to make some tough decisions around the European Games .. this vll be unchartered waters for them, and it remains to be seen as to how they'll cope with the pressure and demands of the assault on three fronts.
I would love to see Utd draw the first game ..and then win in the replay (v need the extra revenue;s + extra game for arsenal).. ( want Ryan Giggs to score a wonder goal again ..)it vll be ironic if it is Arsenal who dump us out in the semi-s and go on to do the treble ... afterall that's what we did to them .. history ehh.

I believe the best result for utd would be to lose to arsenal, it may help them focus on the the more pressing problems. Much has been made of the, possibly mistaken, sale of beckham but the parallel decline in the effectiveness of the talismanic keane has been overlooked. The midfield now lacks both it's most dependable attacking option and it's defensive co-ordinator. Fergies' response to these known conditions has been what we now know as keegan syndrome, newcastle threw away the league title by leaking goals, his response was to buy a striker! Fergie responded to his problem by listing butt and buying ronaldo, not clever. The only positive move was to strengthen the midfield by selling veron. Rumours circulate in the press that the next move will be to sell ferdinand to Chelsea in exchange for Duff, but surely the the obvious move must be to try and lure vierra from arsenal at any cost, thus reducing the damage from the loss of keane and reducing the effectiveness of henry for free, thus utd would be in a one horse race for the title next season, no sweat!

Anyway, what do I know, a couple of injuries to key players, a new signing or two and the whole picture changes.
I am rather hoping that my shares might show a sign of revival also, I thought I had a pretty exciting portfolio, but the horrors of Madrid are having their effect. Puts it all into perspective I suppose. I hope if Arjen reads this, he is safe and not personally affected by this outrage.
