Broker tips: Vodafone tipped for Christmas
LONDON (ShareCast) - Mobile giant Vodafone (LSE: VOD.L - news - msgs)
moved ahead after Goldman Sachs turned positive ahead of next week's investor day, offsetting gloom about a delayed launch for its 3G services.
The broker reiterated its "outperform" advice and lifted its earnings per share forecasts for the next few years, citing exchange rate assumptions and increased stock buybacks.
Vodafone also announced that it would launch a range of 10 3G handsets during Christmas across Europe and Japan, although these will not be launched until November.
Analysts had been hoping that the long-awaited launch would occur some time in October.

Hi Dave.
Locked in some HNR at +10 this morning, still holding a good wedge of them for when they hit the mother load, but it is nice to run into a good profit, did the same with Tullow earlier in the week at +8, hit it on the rise, now waiting to see which way it goes after the feel good wears off. It does loom like it may go down a bit, so there may be a new buying opportunity.
The flame is burning brightly.
Brown and Jackson seem to have stalled, do you still hold?
Easyjet never seem to make their mind up if things are good or bad!!

Well blow me down, I sold at the right time today, the penny has just dropped with HNR, making a good difference to what I would have got!

I am stil, watching WLW which did not spike in the same way as last year after the interims.
I think others thought the same as me concerning the commentary that accompnaied their results.
They will still figure on my buy list if the price is right, say 42p or less.
(39p is better of course!)

Dave
My final comment before I go for a refreshing walk ion the rain is that I am looking very hard at Morrisons.
They gave a profit warning some months back, and the price dropped, that was the time to buy, but I was locked in elsewhere, with all the store sales to other chains I have a sneaky feeling that they will show a very healthy result having bought the Safeway Chain and sold off assets.
I am looking to buy gain when the price is right, (it probably is now as it seems to stick at it's current level of around 2), worth contemplating as a long imo, I suggest checking dates in this case.

Mega,
Relieved it is small! I pretty much stick to UK stocks for my little mind games, and still trying to learn.
Consequently going through bit of a red patch at the moment, but as the man said, "I'll be back."
Are you getting any joy out of S&P? I assume you must be if you have opted to "specialise" there

SC,
90% of my trading is done on the S&P and yes it is pretty good:-)not as volatile as the DOW and you can trade it 24/5 !!!
I guess you tend to find what suits you best and if it works why change it!!!!!

Nice collection, see yo8u have moved about a bit since you last released this info.
I seem stuck in Oil & Gas, it's like a bug that keeps biting me.
I do not like the majors, I had some in BP. for a while but it seemed when Putin sneezed BP. caught the cold. Still may happen if they get funny about their borders and taxes.
Had a bit of JKX which more than made up for it but got out before the dry well.
Still following retail and hold RTO which shows no profit. It's all gone very quiet over there but ex div is next week, maybe something will give then.
