Afternnon all - just catching up after having a big family BBQ on Saturday in pouring rain and a supurb Wedding yesterday for my niece.
Just returned - desperately i n need of sleep - but found this piece on another BB. Again hope the contributor does not mind me lifting it.

Sorry for the delay Ladies and Gentlemen but here is the US patent information:-

1.)The tray which is used for red meat is called Durafresh and the US patent which has beeen granted is 6.430.467.The bottom of the tray also states that other patents are pending.I suspect that the patent relates to the tray being usable in the microwave and dishwasher but why you would want to use it in such a way is beyond me! Anyway if someone can reserach the patent at the US patents office it would be interesting.

Having visited several Walmarts on the Eastern Seaboard when my schedule permits my impressions for what they are worth are as follows:-

2.)Terry Robbins on the few ocassions that I have met him has consistently stated that the UK is several years advanced on the US in terms of food packaging technology. From what I have seen I would agree. The tray above is 2 material laminated plastic so I am assuming it is not recyleable. It must be 6-7 times thicker than the Stanelco tray. The sealing rim is nearly 1/2 cm wide and the heat seal nearly a half of that.Poultry and Fish are not even in Plastic trays but polystyrene foam where the seal is not on the lid but on the bottom via the cover itself. From memory these trays are classic leakers.

3.)the average Walmart store really is something to see in terms of its size, the goods stocked and prices. For example the clothing section alone would be bigger than the average Uk store. The basic proposition is price and for the average middle to low income american family they must be a godsend. There are no federal or state laws that I have been able to find that dictate that retailers must sell at MRSP;Walmart offers the lowest prices guaranteed. It really is the American peoples store.

4.)From memory the Walmart supply chain in NAFTA uses close to 5,500 tray lidding machines. At $50,000 saving per tray lidding machine to Walmart that is $250m of supply chain savings that flow to the bottom line.If Walmart want this technology forget the environmental stuff!;I would expect Walmart to ruthlessly enforce this technology with their supply chain as they must have incredible buying power

5.)One final impression is the US/Uk relationship.Regardless of your views on the UK's support for the War on Terror my perception is that it has solidified the anglo-american relationship to an extent that I have never seen before. The average American is so pro Uk it is hard to believe. As an American Lady said to me the other day we are "one nation divided by the same language".The converse is also true;French wine has all but disappeared from restaurant wine lists!!!!!!

Therefore in summary I feel that if the Greenseal technology is as good as we are told and in particular if it has the commercial footprint that we are told;I see no reason to prevent Stanelco doing a deal with Walmart?!

And if Howard White can pull such a deal off(and i make no judgement here as to his ability to do that although he is clearly a talented and able businessman)then IMHO it will be mind blowing.Even peeps with a few thousand shares will do very nicely;for long termer SEO PI's with substantial shareholdings it does not bear thinking about!!!!!!!!!

No ramps meant or intended with this post,DYOR but this is hugely exciting."

driver - 01 Aug 2005 14:48 - 8015 of 27111

All the links at the bottom of the Research Page have been restored and are now working. To check it out, click the little green house next to "the little driver"

Martin Wagner - another bit in the jig saw - getting the right team in place to manage the development of the products.

I always thought that there would be an announcement tomorrow( Its the first Tuesday following the end of the month and a good time to make an announcement re orders).

Whatever happens tomorrow (or not) the structure is being built to accomodate a company in transistion and to support its infrastructure. This just gets better and better. I still (imho) rate this company as medium risk until we start to see the orders flowing.

agreed baza, very dull day all round. i have to say , no wind for tomorrow!!! hope i am wrong.

EWRobson - 01 Aug 2005 19:20 - 8022 of 27111

Yeah! Volumes down although charts remain reasonably positive. Could meander along this week.
Good appointment though - clearly has been working very closely with SEO and must have great confidence in product futures.

At least you hav'nt got ii here , now that is boring !!

hewittalan6 - 01 Aug 2005 23:01 - 8024 of 27111

Now. Would I move from my position of power and big earnings at a huge global company to work for a 2 bit, 1 product company who are hoping and praying that one supermarket in the whole world will buy my product and be kind enough to pay a profitable amount for it (as ii suggests SEO is).
Would I move to a company that has the potential to just about make a profit?
Would I move to a company that potentially has the world in its hands and could make me as rich as creosote, based on performance related pay and share options?
Gotta go for choice 3, and if this Asda guy is as clever as people say, there is no way he'd move to either of the first 2.
QED. ii ROTFLMAO IMHO.

good morning all. gorgeous day here , no news. do you think it will be another dull day???????

bhunt1910 - 02 Aug 2005 07:56 - 8027 of 27111

Morning Bos and all - lovely day down South - haven't seen much blue sky for over a week - about time the weather changed. Might be because all my relations from Yorkshire are going back home today!!!

Looks like it could be another meander day - although unusually there is quite a wide spread just prior to opening
