Seems like the new chap could be yet another piece of the jigsaw puzzle....
"Packaging Design & Innovation – Ensuring product success through innovation in packaging (5th Annual PIRA International conference at Nice 8&9/6/2005)
Speaking at 10:05 8/6/05 Martin Wagner (Buying Manager Asda) Keeping packaging innovation at the forefront of own label brands

......or was he one of the recent victims of Asda's delayering?

MikeW45 - very likely dead wood cast aside - but you cannot suggest that as it then loses its spin potential for SE0 ;-) LOL

Wal-Mart unit Asda cuts 1,400 jobs
AFX News Limited
07.05.2005, 10:28 AM [back to top]

(Adds CEO statement, confirmation on number of job losses)

LONDON (AFX) - Britain's second biggest grocer Asda, a unit of US giant Wal-Mart Stores Inc, is to axe 1,400 jobs in an attempt to boost earnings after it lost customers to market leader Tesco PLC.
The company said it will plough the money saved from eliminating around 200 head office jobs, and a further 1,200 managerial roles within its stores, into lower prices.
'While our sales have slowed in recent months as the economy's tightened, Asda is no retail straggler,' chief executive Andy Bond said in a statement.
'But I'm simply not satisfied with this year's average performance - our natural home is outperformance -- and today's changes put in place the teams ...that will re-ignite our business over the next 12-18 months.'

Hi All,

No worries, EVO are putting Stanelco in their 'July General Monthly Update', due to Tim Freeborne being on holiday when the last three announcements came out.

Therefore expect EVO to mention, Biotec 20m deal, end of ASDA trials, and possibly the Director appointment.

Bear in mind this update will be read by a lot more fund managers and institutions and private clients, because not all of them recieve the company specific notes, and it will be passed on to others, either for Stanelco, or one of the other companies contained in it, but Stanelco will get noticed more than before.

It should be out this week.

Cheers,
PM

Boring day here, and I know you don't like other cos. on this thread but take a look at ETQ. If anyone can shed any light, would be grateful.

bhunt1910 - 02 Aug 2005 16:35 - 8040 of 27111

Are we talking about the house being old enough to have a fence - or the car being old enough to have roof rack!
LOL

Just been ruminating on the timing of the next surge in the SEO share price. Almost certainly will be linked with some significant move in the USA. A move by someone other than Wal-Mart will probably need some trials which could well be progressing at the moment. After all, the first batch of Premier and Advanced engineers will have been trained and it would get them doing something productive.

Wal-mart, of course, will have been kept abreast of the ASDA trials although may well have wished to see them finsih before making their own move. I would have thought that these trials will have provided sufficient evidence. In that case, we should be down to commercial negotiations. Now, I would not be surprised if Wal-mart would want to demonstrate their buying muscle in negotiating the deal. Stanelco would want to hold the line with the ASDA deal. Trying to put oneself in SEO's position, I would line up a competitive deal but give Wal-mart the option at the ASDA pricing, with perhaps some give on volume. This could take a little time so that September may be more likely than August. however, I would be surprised if there wasn't a leak or speculation this month which would help the sp to move forward. If not, perhaps Frogpack or Starpol news to keep up the interest. All exceedingly positive, so its only the patience which is being tested.

Wonder how you see it, PM? The Evo update might add some info.

With the FTSE massively overbrought and a correction of between 5 to 20% due very soon - the shorters have chosen the right time perhaps if there are any - in the event of no news and a correction - due selling pressure with a big seller in the background as well - will increase and quickly.
