Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

The running costs of Wales and Scotland cost England a lot more than the Falklands Fred so I take it you wouldn't have thought it worth defending those either if Argentina had invaded ?

Couldn't stand Maggie Fred , heartless cow but I disliked her less than I dislike that clown Corbyn.

Fred1 as you seem to object to wars, may I ask if you are a Jehovan Witness? or are you just against some wars?

Fred , so feck Gibralter if Spain invades .... likewise the Channel Islands if the French want them.
Glad you weren't in charge in 1939 , would probably have argued the same when Germany invaded Poland.

Dil,
Spain doesn't need to invade Gibraltar, it is simple for them to cause chaos there by a simple blockade.
But my guess is that the Spanish government is more mature than you appear to be.
They don't have to invade and many in Gibraltar would prefer to remain in the EU.

As far as 1939 is concerned, I think you should look at the terms of the Treaty of Versailles.
The economic depression in Europe (and World economy) during the 1920-30s.
The mass unemployment and social pauperism which led to the election of extremist political leaders and their racist adherents.
(Right and left winged.)
Similar to what is happening at the moment with the move to populism.
This panders to nationalistic and racist policies of the likes of the Farage, BNP UKIP and Brexiters and some supporters appear to me to be advocating.
For many, Farage who seems to appeal to you has many of the characteristics of a newly born Hitler.
-=--===
But you are allowed to be as insular as you wish to be, but the consequences of what you seem to be wishing for are longer term than you may think.

There is a picture in my daily rag of Ant McPartlin getting out of his black Mini. He looks very wobbly and possibly very shaken up by the accident he's just been involved in. No other car is shown in my paper, only Ant's black Mini.
Hmmm? That wasn't enough for me. I seemed to remember seeing a red car on TV so I thought I'd see what else is out there about McPartlin's accident on t'Internet.
First off, here's a graphic showing how it is thought the accident happened. It doesn't show any vehicle speeds, of course.
Here's a YouTube clip of Ant getting out of his car after the accident. Notice it shows a head-on collision between Ant's black Mini and a red BMW:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=8&v=3uj-IuQ5UeQ
I also found this. It's another YouTube clip about Ant's accident. This one is extremely interesting:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9xzAV03d8o
"I was so angry with him I lost my cool and tried to run up to him and smash his face - I had to be held back."
After watching this last clip, I think Ant could easily end up doing a spell in prison......

so CORBYN has now admitted that the poison finger does indeed point at Russia beyond reasonable doubt
Corbyn then gives a bit more waffle, but he says, not wrongly, that uk (and others) should still talk to Russia
expelling diplomats does not preclude discussions going on behind the scenes, just as it did with IRA .... so actually, no great piece of novel thinking, though Corbyn will like to pretend otherwise

that certainly wasn't my opinion and nor did i write anything remotely resembling that
for that matter TM made a very measured announcement commensurate with the gravity of the affair - i believe this sort of thing follows a recognised protocol

TM was playing to her remaining party faithfuls.
Trying to hang on to "power."
What did she say about Bushes bombing of Iraq with a death toll of over 250,000?
She needed a distraction from her Brexit failures.
