THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

perhaps fred should try applying his "wait for results" principles (allegedly he has some) for the outcome of brexit negotiations etc
the final result will not really be known for perhaps a decade or more, so no doubt he'll be dead by then

Fred1new - 10 Apr 2018 09:37 - 80605 of 81564

Manuel,

Sounds like wishful thinking on your part.

But your prophecy doesn’t look good.

My sister and brother are well into their nineties. The latter managing and digging a large garden with the help of his gardener and wandering off on holidays to France, Italy, Spain, and God knows why the North of Scotland for periodic holidays, with an equally aged friend, while you seem to show an increased rate of decay.

Personally, I have no fear of death, but don’t await it with open hands and disappoint my doctors regularly.

-=-=-=--

If you go back to some posting earlier on this thread and the read them, I said I thought having a referendum was wrong and a political stunt by the incompetent leader of a fragmented tory party. (Doing so, I thought an abuse and a corrupt act at the expense of the general public, supported with those holding outdated ideas.)

Also, suggested after the result of the referendum that the endpoint of expensive negotiations that the result would be that the UK would be on the outside of the EU looking in with begging bowls in hand, unable to influence the rules and regulations and political direction of the EU.

That is being a vassal state.

The overall standard of “living” and “social” care and general economic growth will be less in comparison with the advancements in the EU as a whole. Its influence on international policies will be lessened.

You can already see this occurring with the fraudulent attempts at austerity already introduced or mainly driven by an out of date tory party frighten by the riff-raff of BNP and UKIP and other neo-cons.

to be honest, i don't fret about brexit at all ...... i'll easily come to terms with whatever it all turns out to be

corbyn and his marxist mob will be much more harmful and destructive if they are ever given the chance, albeit that would be over a relative short period

Fred1new - 10 Apr 2018 10:02 - 80608 of 81564

Manuel,

I "think" Corbyn has "moved on" in his "political" thinking, could be wrong,

However, I don't think you have and you show the complacency of a rapidly ageing reactionary.

Dil - 10 Apr 2018 10:28 - 80609 of 81564

Moved onto what ?

Seems to be getting worse rather than better so the sooner the clown goes the better.

Slipping in the polls too apparently.

Neighbours of Richard Osborn-Brooks tear down 'shrine' to burglar Henry Vincent..

A ‘shrine’ to a burglar killed by a pensioner as he tried to burgle his home has reportedly been torn down.

Angry locals are said to have removed flowers and balloons that were left tied to a fence near Richard Osborn-Brooks’ house in memory of career criminal Henry Vincent.

Vincent was stabbed to death in a botched burglary at the home in Hither Green, south London last week.

Mr Osborn-Brooks was arrested on suspicion of Vincent’s murder but later released without charge, He is reportedly being kept under police guard due to concerns for his safety.

Flowers and balloons had been attached to a fence 20 yards away from the pensioner’s home and while police were unable to remove them, angry neighbours apparently pulled them down, reportedly calling them “disgraceful” and an insult.

corbyn has not moved an inch as is borne out by his close affiliates and assuredly by some of his (re)actions

CHINESE IMPORT RELAXATION ETC
apparently the latest speech did not have much if anything new but probably lays the ground for defusing the threatened trade war, and just perhaps rather more in the longer term

who are likely to be the major beneficiaries?
seemingly, car manufacturers in the first instance
however, i think this will be the tip of the iceberg and base commodity producers will be in demand - eg KAZ (copper), GLEN (cobalt for batteries) and BLT (iron ore)

Theresa May has told President Trump that more evidence is needed before Britain will join a military strike against Syria

i thoroughly agree, and even then i am unconvinced that uk should hold hands with trump - even if parliament would allow

The Telegraph

Donald Trump warns Putin and Assad to expect 'nice and new and smart' missiles.

cynic - 11 Apr 2018 12:29 - 80615 of 81564

the man is a fucking lunatic .......

Trump says US poised to take military action against Syria
President Donald Trump on Wednesday warned Russia to prepare for a strike against Syria following the alleged chemical weapons attack in the country last week, ignoring warnings from Moscow that it would target any US military units involved.
Mr Trump’s threat in an early morning tweet came after Russia, the Syrian regime's closest ally, had warned the US any response would trigger “grave repercussions”. Alexander Zasypkin, Russia’s envoy to Lebanon, late on Tuesday reminded the US that the head of the Russian military has said his forces in Syria would not only shoot down any missiles that threatened them but would target the source of the weapons.
“Russia vows to shoot down any and all missiles fired at Syria. Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and “smart!” You shouldn’t be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!” Mr Trump tweeted, in an apparent reference to Syrian president Bashar al-Assad.

iturama - 11 Apr 2018 14:00 - 80616 of 81564

Since when did an envoy to the Lebanon speak for Russian policy? The man needs to be promoted to the DRC.
The problem is verification of these gassing cases. They undoubtedly took place but who set off the canisters, or shells, is more difficult to show. Hard to see how it benefited the Assad regime although reducing cities to ruins alike to Dresden doesn't appear to have bothered him too much.

cynic - 11 Apr 2018 14:14 - 80617 of 81564

as i have said before, both sides of this conflict are baddies and each is backed by an interfering major power ....... it may be that access to oil and similar influences these things - as if!

saddam used poison gas and perhaps worse on the kurds; germany tried out its military hardware etc during the spanish civil war; mussolini did likewise in ethiopia

cynic - 11 Apr 2018 16:13 - 80620 of 81564

that's pretty random ......

1) testing anthrax virus in 1942, but now decontaminated

2) a very old and pretty village in wiltshire, which also has a training centre for chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear events - eg attacks by the russians

Fred1new - 11 Apr 2018 16:53 - 80621 of 81564
