How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

On the basis Federer is currently 1.31 to win the tournament and 1.06 to win tonight you would expect he will still be around 1.26 after tonights stroll to victory :-)

I would expect him to be approx 1.1 for the semi which would make him approx 1.15 to beat Nalbandian (assuming it works out that way) though i am no expert on this

Scripophilist - 24 Jan 2006 19:37 - 8073 of 10502

Interested in your thoughts on Arsenal tonight Steve.

didnt realise it had started - was scalping the draw on the Egypt game

Appears by the side he has picked Wenger is adamant on winning. The big plus in their favour is its at Highbury where we seem to be scoring for fun recently. Look forward to seeing what Diaby is like

Would expect Wigan to play for the draw initially, though if they go behind it should open up.

Arsenal still weak at the back so every chance they could concede, may come down to a case of we'll get more than you do!

Not a fan of backing Arsenal at short odds in this comp though so will observe for a bit

Just looking at the markets, may be better value in backing to qualify than to win tonight though little liquidity

Gee Hleb is annoying as a fan, he gives the ball away so often - looks a duck out of water in the premiership so far

Fundamentalist - 24 Jan 2006 20:08 - 8077 of 10502

Penalty arsenal

Fundamentalist - 24 Jan 2006 20:09 - 8078 of 10502

Scripophilist - 24 Jan 2006 20:10 - 8079 of 10502

LOL! Thought I was well in the money then, half way through a trade.

Looks like only a matter of time before the goal comes though

Fundamentalist - 24 Jan 2006 20:17 - 8081 of 10502

Inter Lazio down to ten a side after 4 minutes lol

Fundamentalist - 24 Jan 2006 20:21 - 8082 of 10502

Typical mid table side, lets see how many lumps we can kick out of the side that play football

Scripophilist - 24 Jan 2006 20:22 - 8083 of 10502

How are Wigan playing?

Fundamentalist - 24 Jan 2006 20:22 - 8084 of 10502

A question

If Henry is involved in winning a penalty he doesnt take it, however it appears this rule doesnt apply to free kicks - i wonder why?

Fundamentalist - 24 Jan 2006 20:22 - 8085 of 10502

If its wearing red and moves kick it Scrip, keepers having a blinder

Scripophilist - 24 Jan 2006 20:57 - 8086 of 10502

I'm running a dual position on the to qualify market and the match odds.

Scripophilist - 24 Jan 2006 21:08 - 8087 of 10502

Have a look at this disparty between the two markets.

Fundamentalist - 24 Jan 2006 21:14 - 8088 of 10502
