How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

very slick john, very slick lol

Harlosh - 01 Feb 2005 10:34 - 811 of 10502

I would highly recommend the course. Once you have grasped the initial concept your return will most likely be far quicker and far more profitable than anything else you have ever done.

Harlosh - 01 Feb 2005 10:36 - 812 of 10502

Thanks Fundy, didn't get left behind this time.

Wilbs, Welcome to this thread. Best of luck with Betfair.

Harlosh and Fundy, You guys are far too quick for me. You'll have to give me a go next time otherwise I'll cry!

Anyway, big game on tonight. Trying to work out a game plan and will back later.

Fundamentalist - 01 Feb 2005 11:35 - 816 of 10502

Bakko

game plan is to back arsenal to win 3-0/4-0/5-0 and then sit back and enjoy!

Harlosh - 01 Feb 2005 11:41 - 817 of 10502

In your dreams.

bakko - 01 Feb 2005 11:56 - 818 of 10502

Well said Harlosh

More apt would be " Only in your wet dreams"

Fundamentalist - 01 Feb 2005 12:22 - 819 of 10502

Harlosh,

Looks like we've got a fight on! I'll take on the big ugly one. You can have the weed with the thick glasses and acne. Scrip will set the odds!

Fundamentalist - 01 Feb 2005 13:08 - 822 of 10502

bakko - looks like you got me then lol

Harlosh - 01 Feb 2005 13:14 - 823 of 10502

I've never seen you with your glasses on Steve!

Fundamentalist - 01 Feb 2005 13:37 - 824 of 10502

John

I was describing myself as the big ugly one lol - and you have seen me with glasses when i drove you home from scrips course!!!!

As for more sensible predicitions for tonight - i fear that the two sides will contrive to fight out a draw and make chelseas job even easier.

bakko - 01 Feb 2005 13:58 - 825 of 10502

Fundy,

A draw will be the nightmare scenario for both teams. I'm predicting that both will go all out on the attack leaving possible holes in defence for the other side to pounce.

Not decided how to approach this game yet but laying the draw and greening up as soon as someone scores seems the sensible option. However, I not so sure whether the odds will change drastically to benefit from this?

Any views, guys??

wilbs - 01 Feb 2005 14:12 - 826 of 10502

Its gonna be u tough one, both teams will be desperate to win and I am sure the managers wont take loosing as an option. The problem is that its such a high profile game. I put my money on Norwich to loose at middlesbrough but look what happened!!

Mmmmmmmm, what to do?????

Fundamentalist - 01 Feb 2005 14:14 - 827 of 10502

Bakko

we wont need to go on the attack for holes to appear in the defense - Cygan is playing!!!!!

as for laying the draw and then greening up, this will only work if the goal takes a while to come imo

personally will turn the computer off before the match, and open a few cold beers

Diego - 01 Feb 2005 16:24 - 828 of 10502

Anyone else having problems with Betfair?
