Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

'Tax on age' to pay for social care being considered for the over-40s
By Edward Malnick, Whitehall Editor
10 November 2018 • 9:29pm
A new levy targeted at the over-40s is being considered by ministers to help solve the social care funding crisis.
Matt Hancock, the Health and Social Care Secretary, told the Telegraph he was “attracted to” a cross-party plan for a compulsory premium deducted from the earnings of the middle-aged and over-65s to fund the cost of their care in later life.
The proposals, set out by two Commons committees, are based on the system in Germany under which all workers over 40 pay 2.5 per cent of their wages into a pot formally earmarked for social care.

David Miliband 'poised to return to UK' as rumours of new Blairite party mount
Former British Foreign secretary David Miliband is reportedly planning to return to Britain next year Credit: AFP
By Telegraph Reporters
11 November 2018 • 7:34am
David Miliband is reportedly poised to return to the UK as speculation mounts that he is being encouraged to lead a new Blairite centre-left party.
The former Labour Foreign Secretary currently lives and works in New York, where he runs the International Rescue Committee.
However, Labour MPs reportedly believe he is ready to move back to the UK next year.
Mr Miliband has held a series of meetings with Tony Blair, the Mail on Sunday reported, with the former prime minister said to be the driving force behind plans for the new centrist party.
Mr Miliband has also met with prominent Labour donors Sir Trevor Chinn and Jonathan Goldstein, according to the newspaper.

why would i?
stupid boy!
in fact, if there is a GE within the next few months, my betting would be for yet another hung parliament
unfortunately, i fear the turnout will be depressingly low - it has not been that good for at least a decade or two - which tends to allow zealots of all hues to garner more votes than warranted

With luck, if that happened there "may be" a coalition government, with a few honest politicians sitting down at a table and appraising their "responsibilities" to the country as a whole and reviewing their policies and "Brexit".
If you haven't seen the program already, have a look at the series "World War 1 in colour" shown on SELECT channel.
Food for thought at the stupidity and false "pride" of politicians and various "elites".

Seen plenty of WW1, WW2, and the EU. Is it a case of the latter being unable to fathom they are largely responsible for the rise of the extremes or is it that they just can't accept their part?
Cheers,

who would you suggest for your cabinet then fred?
more to the point, even if "they" managed to speak and act altruistically - hahahaha! - what deal do you think they could or would dream up that would actually be accepted, not only by the EU plutocrats (who are intrinsically at least as self-serving and crooked as any), and would also be accepted with open arms by the UK population at large?

Don't ask Fred for an answer C. He only does questions and problems. He bangs on about stupid politicians and "elites" being responsible for WW1, then suggests putting together a coalition of "a few honest politicians", no doubt elites also, to do god knows what. The rest doesn't make sense.
Fred, in this country you still have to have a parliamentary majority to govern, cabals don't cut it, except in the likes of Venezuela. It was a clear majority of the people that decided to leave; now that is democracy in action in the face of the politicians and the "elites" who want otherwise. Get over it.
