PlaneStation U.S. Headquarters
Now in the MLB Terminal Building
In September 2003, Melbourne International
Airport (MLB) executed an agreement with
PlaneStation,
which specializes
in airport and airport
property management.
In addition
to other
requirements, the
agreement called
for PlaneStation to
serve as an operator
in the following
three areas:
1) to lease or charter aircraft
and fly both passengers
and air cargo into MLB;
2) to contract with other charter
operators to fly passengers
and air cargo into
MLB; and
3) to operate the concession
areas within the international
terminal.
Since that time, PlaneStation
has been working diligently to accomplish these
tasks, including marketing to tour operators to
provide service. PlaneStation Melbournes aim is to
take international tourism to a new level in the
Space and Treasure coasts and at the same time,
offer the people of these areas direct flights to new
destinations in Europe.
During a June 2004 visit, PlaneStation, together
with delegations from Germany and the United
Kingdom, visited Brevard with the intention of
determining interest in Americans flying to the
U.K. and Germany. The delegates set up a trade
show at the Holiday Inn, Cocoa Beach to discuss
interest with local tour operators and travel
agents. According to the delegates, the interest
resulting from the trade show was strong and they
look forward to receiving
Americans into those
countries as well as sending
their citizens to
Central Florida.
On August 10, 2004,
PlaneStation representatives
visited the area to
meet with the Airport
Authority and staff, tour
operators, travel agents,
and various tourism
officials. Mr. Tony
Freudmann, Executive
Vice President, and Ms.
Jacqui Dunphi, Vice
President of Aviation,
held a Press Conference
with local media.
PlaneStation representatives
emphasized air service
will begin in Spring
2005 between Kent
International Airport in
Manston, England and Melbourne International
Airport. Manston is located approximately one
hour east of London near Canterberry and Dover.
On August 11, 2004, PlaneStation opened its U.S.
headquarters inside MLBs air terminal. This was
deemed the next logical step to show
PlaneStations visibility in the area. PlaneStation
hired Eden Cook as its Principal Operating Officer.
Cook is responsible for managing the international
operations, facilitating communications
with communities in the U.S. and abroad, and
serving as the local representative for
PlaneStation, Melbourne. For more information
