-- Exec,

Thanks for that - I've used Google for years, but never tried the Shopping link!

Even with that the prices aren't wildly cheap - still over 40 once VAT and delivery are in. Sigh. It's a wondrous mouse... but 40 for a mouse?!

Kayak - 08 Jul 2009 15:04 - 8204 of 11003

Seems a pretty good deal given that RRP is 79.99.

zzaxx99 - 08 Jul 2009 15:08 - 8205 of 11003

Ha! GPB24.43 from EasyToBuyThem.com

Well happy with that (provided the company actually exists, and isn't a scam to steal CC numbers!)

Will know in a couple of days

Kayak - 08 Jul 2009 15:11 - 8206 of 11003

What currency is GPB? Hopefully not a scam one.

Optimist - 08 Jul 2009 15:15 - 8207 of 11003

Foale

When does it hang?

Try selecting last known good configuration after you press F8.

Kayak - 08 Jul 2009 15:26 - 8208 of 11003

I hope you haven't paid yet, zz...

I have to say that 24.43 including postage is a good deal for an item Logitech lists at 79.99. In fact, too good to be true.

The site easytobuythem.com was first registered on June 15th 2009 behind a cloaking service.

The shipping and returns section says that all items are shipped from New York. However if you look at the About Us section it lists UK details.

If you search for a phrase on the website you will find a number of identical sites, identical down to the same misspelling in their contact email address: adminstrator@.........

Google search

Back to your site, if you look up their postcode L22 0PJ, this is the firm at that postcode:

Merseyside Probation Service
Burlington House
Crosby Road North
LIVERPOOL
L22 0PJ

The STD code for Liverpool of course is 0151 and not 0161.

=8-0

eep! I might be heading towards cancelling my C/Card again...

zzaxx99 - 08 Jul 2009 15:37 - 8210 of 11003

Having said that, I think I only paid 30 for the last one that I bought - Dell had a special deal on them at the time. I will keep a close eye on my CC account

Kayak - 08 Jul 2009 15:38 - 8211 of 11003

Just dialled their number, 0161 872 9800 is not recognised.

The Other Kevin - 08 Jul 2009 16:46 - 8212 of 11003

Thanks TP and Opti. Photorescue worked almost too easily. Makes one wonder how much deleted stuff is actually deleted. Quite alarming!

Optimist - 08 Jul 2009 18:08 - 8213 of 11003

TOK

I'm glad you sorted it.

Not very much gets permanently deleted, even if you format a disk it is easily recoverable. If you want to delete a file properly, check out Eraser which works well and will run stand alone if you get the portable version. If you don't like it, there are plenty more out there.

foale - 09 Jul 2009 08:15 - 8214 of 11003

Optimist...I had to reformat the drive in the end...and re install windows
I had nothing on it anyway...

So back where I was before...will leave it alone for a while
Perhaps I just need a better monitor.
It was a small one...and a better graphics card

Microsoft used to include a great little program called Image Composer with their versions of FrontPage 98 and 2000. It was also available as a free download from the Microsoft website.

Unfortunately they discontinued the product a few years ago. I used to like it because it was much better than Paint (you could reposition/resize/delete the elements after they had been added to an image), but nowhere near as complicated as Photoshop (which I actually have, but can't get to grips with).

I would like to obtain version 1.5 of Image Composer, but all I find are dead links on the internet. Would anybody know where I could obtain a copy please?

Alternatively, would anybody be able to recommend a similar product that is available now please?

ThePublisher - 09 Jul 2009 14:45 - 8216 of 11003

hilary.

I have a version of Frontpage 2003 on a CD in my studio.

I can have a look and see what is on the disk.

If I could see where Frontpage is/was installed on this PC I'd dig a bit deeper - but it seems to be hidden somewhere.

I'll be in touch.

hilary - 09 Jul 2009 14:57 - 8217 of 11003

Thanks, TP, but I have FP 2003 myself and Image Composer wasn't included with that version unfortunately.

Prior to that I had FP 98, but I can no longer find the CD for it. I seem to recollect that FP 98 included Image Composer 1.0 which ties in what what I've read elsewhere on the internet.

ThePublisher - 09 Jul 2009 15:03 - 8218 of 11003

OK hilary.

Can't help then.

I use Picture Window Pro and not Photoshop. But it's almost inevitably a harder learning curve than you can justify - and re-reading your post it does not contain the undo properties you want.

TP

hilary - 09 Jul 2009 17:07 - 8219 of 11003

Not to worry, TP. Thanks anyway.

Maybe if I can't get hold of a copy of Image Composer, somebody can recommend an alternative program that's easy to use but contains the undo properties that I'm looking for. Like I say, I've already got Photoshop, but that's way too complicated for what I need and I just can't get to grips with it.

ThePublisher - 09 Jul 2009 17:12 - 8220 of 11003

hilary,

There is a 'history' facility in Picture Window Pro. I've never used it but I think it is there to enable one to unwind the changes they have made. I'll ask on the Bulletin Board for you.
