How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

I owe you a large drink for that Steve. You drew my attention to the game market and I got a decent sized bet on Fed to serve out at 1.11 :-))

Looking forward to the final which I think should be on BBC2 proper.

So if you're trading it don't be trading the delay on Eurosport!

I live in a valley and can't get a watchable picture on terrestrial service but IMHO it's not an issue on the tennis.

Crazy race at Fakenham this afternoon - they dolled off the last fence but the 1st 2 jockeys didnt see the flag so jumped it and subsequently were disqualified (after a 30 min delay) - the eventual winner was matched at 100+ in running and both the disqualified horses traded below 1.3 - a painful race for some

also seems like undeterred is missing a leg in 15.30 at Wolv - gone from 3.5 to 8.4

never put in the race, ran on well for 3rd (a familiar tale)

Steve

Your post @ 8262 gave me a bit of a scare! LOL

I had a pure bet on something earlier. Didn't recall venue or even name of horse and had to check my account to make sure I hadn't got hit.

Luckily it was all OK. Phew!

Scripophilist - 27 Jan 2006 16:21 - 8265 of 10502

Was an odd one, fortunately I had skipped that race.

Arsenal look amazingly short at 3.0 with the team they are playing, especially the defence taking into account their poor record at Bolton

Anyone up for the tennis (and cricket)?

Just pulled up some Fed v Bags head to head stats.

Fed v Bags

They've already played each other 3 times, Fed winning all matches, the last in an atp tournament 3 weeks ago.

Fed has dropped 4 sets so far en route to a final, the most in a grand slam since 2003 US Open.

bakko - 29 Jan 2006 09:05 - 8270 of 10502

Bags has a break of serve and goes 3-2 up

Scripophilist - 29 Jan 2006 09:05 - 8271 of 10502

I am up and watching but I have to take the kids bowling this morning!

Have 3G card, will travel! Will keep an eye on the match but probably will be badly restricted in my trading ability.

Morning Scrip

I'm trading the cricket and watching the tennis at the same time but flicking between the two.

I wouldn't be surprised if the TV goes down after this session!

Fed breaks back
