How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

You trading the golf Steve?

Fundamentalist - 29 Jan 2006 22:34 - 8330 of 10502

Just got in from dinner and having a look

10 players within 2 shots with upto 4 holes to play - Woods looks very short to me

that said very difficult to trade when so many involved as hard to keep up with the overall picture so gonna watch for ten mins or so to get a feel

bakko - 29 Jan 2006 22:38 - 8331 of 10502

Evening Steve and John

Nice to see you both profiting on the scousers. Missed out on that one.

Fundamentalist - 29 Jan 2006 22:42 - 8332 of 10502

Bak

double win for me as had a sneaky double with man u - price was just too generous at almost 6/4 :-)

if trading the golf, bear in mind the 18th is a reachable par 5 and players will be expecting to make a birdie (and there may be the odd eagle)

Harlosh - 29 Jan 2006 22:46 - 8333 of 10502

Hope you both had nice evenings out.

Took some easy money from the Inter game too.

bakko - 29 Jan 2006 22:47 - 8334 of 10502

I'll give the golf a miss tonight.

I had a cracking day today on both the tennis and the footy and will probably screw up if I try trading the golf.

I'd rather leave today on a high.

Harlosh - 29 Jan 2006 22:47 - 8335 of 10502

Currently a small profit on Woods.

Harlosh - 29 Jan 2006 22:48 - 8336 of 10502

Don't blame you Bak.

Fundamentalist - 29 Jan 2006 22:48 - 8337 of 10502

had a strange day - one of my worst on the horses but my best on the footie (and a small prfoit on the tennis)

woods still looks way to short to me - small trade on Olly

bakko - 29 Jan 2006 22:48 - 8338 of 10502

Looks like we all had a decent day.

Here's to more days like these!

Fundamentalist - 29 Jan 2006 22:49 - 8339 of 10502

green on olly - what a great shot into 18

Fundamentalist - 29 Jan 2006 22:56 - 8340 of 10502

went green too early on Olly :-(

Harlosh - 29 Jan 2006 23:05 - 8341 of 10502

I laid him too early.

Fundamentalist - 29 Jan 2006 23:13 - 8342 of 10502

looks odds on a 3 way play off to me
