How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Harlosh - 31 Jan 2006 12:13 - 8368 of 10502

Managed to get a couple of hundred on Steve - and just in time for Ferrer to break serve. :-)

Fundamentalist - 31 Jan 2006 12:28 - 8369 of 10502

nice one john good work

thursday good for me - mid morning start?
sctn in danger of failing its breakout and hwy appears to have failed :-(

Harlosh - 31 Jan 2006 12:57 - 8370 of 10502

See you thursday then.

On the basis of the rise in the market over the past few days perhaps not unreasonable for a pull back Steve. Will have a look at the charts tonight after market close.

Neither score card for the zagreb any good now. Just trading from what I can see of the odds.

a massive gamble going on on Barnewy Curleys Mad Maurice in the 2.50 (his horses tend to finish first or last depending on whether the money is down - and its clearly down today - backed from 3.5 to 2.3

Scripophilist - 31 Jan 2006 14:52 - 8374 of 10502

Mad Maurice almost got to odds on!

Fundamentalist - 31 Jan 2006 14:53 - 8375 of 10502

Gamble landed :-)

didnt green my profit up

Scripophilist - 31 Jan 2006 14:54 - 8376 of 10502

And it wins, Very dodgy, very dodgy.

Fundamentalist - 31 Jan 2006 14:55 - 8377 of 10502

Scrip

one of my list of checks i do in the morning is highlight any Barney Curley runners and keep an eye on them for any large lumps - they tend to go one way or another in a big way - as someone posted on the forum - theyre not running it for the 1700 prize money lol

Fundamentalist - 31 Jan 2006 15:01 - 8378 of 10502

add to that if he has 2 horses entered for a race, expect the short price fav to be pulled out before the race and then the "outsider" to be heavily backed and hose up

as bent as they come in my book (though nothing has ever been proved against him) and all you can do is jump on the bandwagon

Scripophilist - 31 Jan 2006 15:01 - 8379 of 10502

You could see the dirty money all over the market. People were backing it at any price.

Scripophilist - 31 Jan 2006 15:03 - 8380 of 10502

Steve, any dodgy ones in the next banded race at Southwell?

Fundamentalist - 31 Jan 2006 15:19 - 8381 of 10502

sorry scrip

took the opportunity of the break to take the dog round the block - havent anymore on the list for today but as usual watch the market!!!
